Who said anything about running and gunning? I came to BC2 specifically because I was bored of games like MW2 which are esentially just deathmatches. I am the kind of player who prefers to skulk around, using cover and not venturing into the open. My favourite game is Red Orchestra on the PC, a game which is geared towards exactly this sort of realism (a game which is fantastic, incidentally, partly because snipers are rare). Even so, sometimes it's neccessary to expose yourself in order to reach the objective, or cross a street, or whatever.
The problem is, it doesn't help. What you're saying would be applicable if there were a reasonable number of snipers in the game. Then yes, running into the open would be a bad idea, and I wouldn't be so frustrated about being shot down. But there's so many snipers it just doesnt seem to matter.
I would love to see sniper numbers limited. Then perhaps more players would choose to use assault classes and we could see more big firefights and really involving battles that this game is designed for.
I think I saw someone mention earlier that sniping is less of a problem when not playing hardcore (is this true?), and if Im honest, Ive not tried normal mode yet. But I much prefer hardcore for the more realistic feeling with no crosshairs etc, and bullets which actually do damage, so Im loathe to go and try it.
Yeah its head shots only for one hit kills on normal. Anywhere else on the body and you get hit and can relocate.
