The cars are fueled only for the exact lap count of the entire race.

I suspect most race series are spec'd similarly. Under SC fuel usage is significantly less than full race pace.

Which is why, in the other race series, they calculate how many laps to add.

Well, he did have the puncture

Which actually helped him at the end, because he had pretty fresh medium tyres on (which forced Ferraris hand in terms of putting).

Max crashing, and the safety car pretty much meant the stop he had to make for puncture didn't really affect his race.

Seems kinda nonsensical to give Hamilton a reprimand. Either he could have reacted in which case it's a real penalty or he couldn't in which case it's nothing.

Its well known though that most cars are underfilled in F1; adding laps just isn't going to work unless we bring back refuelling.

Indeed in something like BTCC where they do add laps if there's a safety car its capped at 3) - which means the first 3 laps under safety car get added back on but anything beyond that counts as a race lap but in effect the teams need to add an extra 3 laps of fuel at every race.

The only real option is to red flag the race but I can understand why adding an extra delay (especially when the race is almost finished) might not be workable in all scenarios.

Rated the race a 5/10 (extra point for a Leclerc win!)

The software mess-up at the end with the SC left us without a grandstand finish, but don't agree with the extreme views here, who therefore rated it 1/10.

Anyway, Antonelli looked imperious - him dropping out of the points keeps things interesting at the top of the table. Merc seems to be their own worst enemy at the moment. They may come to regret it in the second half of the season if Ferrari, in particular, can provide a more powerful engine.

Anyway if you think that was bad, go look at the f3 feature race results.

The bloke who won was disqualified for technical reasons, then at least 2 others were given penalties for weaving after the bridge during the safety car restart and a couple of others given penalties for various indiscretions.

That was when they had a last lap shoot out following a safety car. My man Freddie who was doing well until nerfed while trying to overtake the later disqualified de Paulo, fell to sixth but as far as I can tell ended up second. So as far as I can tell only one of the top 3 actually stood on the podium.
So that probably explains why they didn’t want to do a last lap shootout for the f1.

Computer said no we ain’t doing that again.

F1 cars are fueled with less fuel than is required to complete full race distance at full speed, this has been the case for years and has been what has caught teams out in the past when they have not had enough fuel to provide the post race samples. The weight saving and therefore performance gain of not carrying the extra KG of fuel is a balancing act they spend a lot of time working through.

The software mix up didn't influence what the safety car was meant to do. In fact the safety car procedure was all correct.

Max crash caused by a rear wing failure for the second time

George even saw it in the replay whilst in the cooling down room..

Wrong. Gave Barcelona a 6. I didn’t think it was anything close to the 10s it received.
Pretty sure the only race I ever give a 1 to is Monaco, because it’s consistently awful racing.
I don’t care if Hamilton wins or loses, sorry about that… I just want to see action on track.
Fair play bro. Thought u hated Hamilton for some reason

Wonder if they’ll dump the macarena wing.
No chance, the aero package is now designed around it, they’ll be looking hard at the actuators and mechanism to understand why it’s not returning to the right position.
