It's such a deep game there's loads of things that can go wrong
What do you want to know specifically?

Best bet is to keep things very simple at first. Use a strong defensive formation, and use counter tactics.

I use 4-4-2 with some tweaks but you might need a 5-3-2 or a 4-5-1. What are you currently using? Make sure you are using counter and rigid/very rigid to begin with. Make sure you are fluid in your tactics - if not, change your training to cohesion and tactics and learn them quickly. Best to do this during the pre-season. Leave everything else at default.

Managed to qualify, IN FIRST!!! Managed to beat The Netherlands 3-1 (lamela hat-trick), and Australia 3-1 (Ocampos, hat-trick), to win the group. Got Iran in the next leg now. Should be easy.

My teams finances aren't improving.
I really don't understand the finance stuff, I've got 10k left on my wage budget, I haven't got that much staff, but I'm reporting loss after loss >.<

That is pretty much how lower league finances work IRL. If you get lucky, you might make that money back when season ticket sales start again, but most likely the only ways of making a profit are to draw Manchester United away in the FA Cup or to sell players.

Boca are out of money too. I had 100k/w wage budget, and suddenly, it went down to -1k/w. Now with all the loans back, and the frees I got, I am some - *a lot of money*k/w. Selling all the youths to try and get some extra money to play with.

The thing that annoys me is that I don't even get to change my season expectations. They just give me last season's. So last season I had 4M left, so that is what I have now.

Did a small cheat. i beat Brazil and Turkey in the WC (2-1 both times) but I mistakenly rejected an already accepted 7.5M bid for a player. I re-offered him at the same price, and I didn't get it, so I re-started from before Brazil.

New career with a slightly better mind in how to do this. However we're currently abysmal at defending set pieces. 4 corners and 1 free kick. 5 goals conceded

Managed to keep Villa afloat in the first season. Finished 13th, but could have been 17th, there was just one point and goal difference separating the teams around us.

Got about 5 million budget for the second season, so just signed Marco Capauno from relegated Pescara to bulk up my back line, as that is probably my weakest area.

And also managed to sign myself one promising youth player, looks like he could be quite good if nurtured correctly.

If I can get into the top ten this season, I will be happy, and will have a bit more money as have cleared out some players, and got some others wages down on new contracts. Villa do have potential, which is nice!

Managed to get a new stadium. Gave it a shot as it NEVER worked for me, EVER. Didn't get my achievement though Might be because it waits until i actually play in it. If so, I'll stay here another season. Either way, I'm still making the team and there aren't any good jobs available, so I might as well stay.

I bought this guy in Jan, and I played him up front. he scored just 2 goals in some 17 games. I am getting a good striker on loan, so due to performance, I am going to sack this guy. Saying that, i can drop him to his natural position (AMC) and sell a guy who, according to my ass. man, is worse stats wise, but last year he scored 16 goals in total. I will be getting 7.5M for Farina btw.

Its really a case of stats or performance. Think I might go with performance for this one. Or I might give Farina another chance, drop Suarez to CM, and sell a CM.

Got 4 players up to now. 3 on a free, and 1 was Bernal (a 16 y/o I got on loan to play as CB). His fee was 3.3M. I sold a total of 35M up to now, and its obviously going to go up with the sale of Farina, or some other player.

I need a CB now, as I'm 1 short. I'm just gonna take an 18y/o from my youths. Can't find any half decent ones!

Managed to sign Leroy Fer as well for my Villa team.

Hutton & Ireland went, so used the money from transfers for him, and have about 75% of their wages left after Fer's nice low wages.

I thought I was already through to the next round of the Champions League so I put out a (very) weakened team against Celtic. I lost 3-1 and ended up finishing 3rd with the same points as Schalke.

Any idea how I can get the best out of Javier Hernandez? I rarely play but when I do he doesn't get involved OR score any goals.

I used to play him on the right side of 2 strikers, as a poacher. Did well for me.

2nd season in the Championship and we're inexplicably terrible at home for some reason. Outstanding away though! Nothing much has changed from last year, if anything the team is better and more mature.

I've had a bizarre series of cup games in my game as Aldershot (League 2, 2017/18 season).

League Cup 1st Round - Leicester Away, get thumped 4-0. Leicester have just been relegated to League 1, but are favourites to go back up, they have a very strong team.

JPT (I won this the season before!) - Leicester at home. Get thumped 4-1.

FA Cup 1st round... I watched the draw, last two teams out of the hat are..... Aldershot vs Leicester. I lose 1-0 this time. I'm quite glad it did not go to a replay - I have had enough of Leicester!

I can't believe I have been knocked out in the 1st round of every cup by the same opposition. I would not mind playing the same team 3 times in the cup, its just a shame that they are so much better than my team so I had little chance!

Just had a slightly bizarre result too - Man City were knocked out of the Champions League after winning 5-0 against Juventus at home, as they were beaten 7-1 in Italy

I have two wonderkid regens now doing the business - one home-grown (17 years old AM LRC) and one Brazilian striker.

Doing OK with West Ham, but we're getting the usual post Christmas slump as Injuries and suspensions pile up and we lose a few players to the African Cup. I'm happy with how we're doing, but quite often in games, the assistant manager says we're dominating in the air and to get more crosses in. Is there a shout (or 2) that leads to more crossing? Early crosses doesn't work as that's before the winger has got to the corner. I can't find another shout that leads to more crossing except maybe 'Exploit the flanks'.
Currently playing 3-1-3-1-2 against easier opponents at home and 4-1-3-1-1 against better teams. Having a good defensive midfielder like Diame is very handy. Just need Jarvis and Taylor getting the crosses in to get more goals.

Exploit the flanks, get the ball forward combo gets the players to hit it on the break and cross it back in. Add work the ball into the box tried to get them to put the cross in when someone good has a chance of being there.

A few things are really ****ing me off with this at the moment, because they're giving the opposition just about every goal... Why doesn't my keeper bother diving half the time when he's perfectly able to? Why don't my defence close down people even though I have told them to? Also they can't mark for **** and the opponents can run straight through them?

Also how do I get my players to mark corners properly... I've tried getting them to in the set pieces editor thing but the opposition just get away from their man easily, run in and score every time?
