What causes so many goals conceded late? Pretty much every match after promotion to CH, I dominate possession for the whole game and get a goal or 2 then in the last 2minutes they always score twice to win, doing my head in.

Look what I got :D:D:D

Bought last november, its really interesting!

stick with it mate, can be incredibly frustrating at times but plenty of info online about tactics. Finding it a hell of a lot harder than FM12 at the moment, must have put like 200hours into that but can't find any form at the moment on this :(

Not impressed by Dali Gomez coming to the end of the season been terrible overlooked by Kaine Sheppard who got on loan.

In fairness he was amazing in the Beta and I ended up having him as an impact sub in the main game I think.

Carl Sheppard is one to look out for when he gets released from Reading! Patterson as well is always worth a look...

Anyone had Ryan McLaughlin - RB from Liverpool before. How does he turn out?

I picked him up on Loan with Harrogate in my 6th season and he's been brilliant for me, great stats. Liverpool don't want him so I've agreed a 30k deal for him at the end of the season. Seems like a bargain to me.

For me (season 10 I think) he ends up as a champ RB, not amazing but not bad.

Well it looks like I'll be having a 2nd season in the Championship (unless I fluke the playoffs). So he'll be number 1 next season. I'll see how he progresses.

Him not speaking English will definitely be a factor; he's only just started performing for me [a hat-trick away against Kidderminster, playing in a poacher role]. Now I'm up in the giddy heights of the Blue Square Premier, I'm less convinced he's going to be a dependable source of goals, anyway.

Calum Dingwall, however, has been superb for me so far - 15 goals in 15 appearances, and an average rating of nearly 8 [again, in a poacher role].

My team are holding their own in the BSP at the moment - mid-table respectability, and all that. The problem I'm finding is any sort of consistency from the players: one week I'll trounce the league leaders away, the next I'll slump to a 4-0 home defeat against the bottom club. I suspect it's a mentality issue; quite often my players will get anxious/frustrated even though my team-talk strategy is to keep them calm. I do have a very young team, though, which I suspect is the root of the problem.

How long before they speak the lingo though? I've had a couple of players in for over a year now. Played every game this season, still only speak 1 language :(

Lazy blighters! :p

I don't know, to be honest. Though I imagine Adaptability plays a part in it. I'd like to think that the makeup of your squad also has an effect [It takes longer to learn English at Newcastle than, say, Northampton due to the number of French players in the squad], but I have no idea whether this contributes.

From vague recollections of previous versions, it can vary quite markedly from player to player: some have a 'Basic' grasp within 6 months, some take a couple of years.

Its takes quite a few matches before foreign players 'adapt'. Maybe almost a season before they are totally comfortable and that's providing they are played frequently. That will stop those 'blending in' messages during games. Adaptability is an often overlooked trait that is as important as their playing skills. I've had several players request transfers or leave due to the fact they can't settle in England. Best bet is to get two from the same country, or at least two that speak the same language. It's also very important that your back row all communicate well. If your defensive line are all talking to each other it helps significantly.

I have a few issues:

1. I can't set any scouting assignments for some reason, I select the scout but then I go to select the location and everything is blanked out etc.

2. How do you help players towards their potential, and how long does it take/any other info? I have a 2 1/2 star striker who has 5 star potential according to my scout!

Thanks

edit: also very ****ed off with the team and the board, they're making this a nightmare. I can't get any transfers because I have no budget, free transfers always want big contracts that I can't afford, the board won't do a thing, the team can't play for ****. Haven't won a thing, losing by 3+ goals every match now, even when we're favourites.

1) Being as money seems to be tight, is it something silly like the board isn't allowing any scouting, never seen it before and its just a guess.

2) training, getting tutored by the right player and game time, if your not playing him loan him out to get playing time.

as for how long it depends on the things mentioned above, for me its mainly playing time, but don't expect them to come on to quickly.

tried getting loans for youngsters from teams higher up ?, usually don't need fees or very little.

will the board let you have a parent club ?

what sort of tactic are you using, and is it a fir for the players you have.

what's moral like, are they paying any attention at teams talks, what sort of talks are you giving.

Thanks for those comments.

I haven't checked about a parent club yet, and i'm not too familiar with loans but i'll have a look at that for sure. I'm currently using a 4-4-2 as they seem familiar with it and I don't think I could get anything else to work any better at the moment. Morale is fluctuating, the other game everyone was good, but now they're all bad. My team talks usually get the players motivated or fired-up, but some of them don't listen sometimes and don't seem to care in matches? Can that be dealt with?
