***** Official Football Manager 13 Thread *****

My Boca team win the First Stage easily. We dominated all the way through. Best defence, and the 2nd best attack for a few goals.

We also won the Copa Sudamericana 'easily'. Won 3-0 and 4-1 in the final against Velez.

After the first stage (around Christmas) the league stops for a bit and we have a few friendlies, then the second stage starts.

I'm doing horrible in the second stage. Just managing to scrape a few results. My defence just turned into **** and my strikers don't score as much anymore. Opposition attack just seem like they can walk into the 6 yard box without anyone touching them. 4 wins, 4 draws and 2 losses in the league till now. pretty bad when in the first stage I managed to win all the games except 2 draws and 2 losses.

I'm doing well in the Copa Libertadores, so I can't really understand. Beat Colo Colo 7-0, Emelac 3-0, and Corinthians 3-2 (2 of my goals were penalties, but then again, 1 of their goals was a stupid mistake from my defence).

I don't understand, why has my defence gone to ****?!

Malt, just shout at them! And do some defending training as a team for a month or so...

Happens to me a lot, mainly when I don't do as much training in the weeks before hand, long bursts of attacking movement and tactics set up in the weeks before seemed to sort of fix it (though I still get a lot of chances that aren't put away)

edit: also very ****ed off with the team and the board, they're making this a nightmare. I can't get any transfers because I have no budget, free transfers always want big contracts that I can't afford, the board won't do a thing, the team can't play for ****. Haven't won a thing, losing by 3+ goals every match now, even when we're favourites. :confused:

I'm not near my PC to check this is how it works, but has someone else in the club got responsibility for Scouting Assignments?

They can only do so much at a time, you might have to remove their existing assignments first

From what I know he's the only one assigned and he only has 1 assignment at the moment, I thought you could queue them?
 
Velez won the closing stage with 1 game to go. If we both win all the remaining fixtures, they would have won by 4 points. In the league table, I win by some 17 points. Crazy.

In the Copa Argentina I will face Indipendiente in the Semi Final.

In the Copa Libertadores I will face Cruz Azul in the Quater Final.

The only thing that annoys me is that everything ends in August. The Copa Libertadores finishes in August, so I have to stay at Boca until then. The week after, I have the first leg of the Super Cup. Might aswell stay there for 2 more weeks, where I can get another cup, no?

I like what you are doing... I think after/if I take Harrogate to PL glory I might try something similar :)

Just finished my first season in the Championship finally, it took most of the week. We didn't do as bad as I originally though. After a fairly poor start, we found our feet and finished 3rd - still some distance off 2nd mind!

Still have the play offs to go but I think I'd prefer my team to have another year in the Championship to mature a bit, they are a fairly young squad.

Best part of the season - beat the runaway league leaders Aston Villa 4-1 at home. Then played them away last game of the season, beat them 2-0 to deny them the title... haha, loved it :D

No idea what is next after S.A. 2 continents left, N.A. and Africa. Africa is very hard, because you can only chose teams from the country South Africa, and the best African teams are all from other nations (which SI don't have the rights for). Both Mexico and the USA seem good to win in N.A.

I'll leave as soon as I win the Super Cup (if... :P) and see which continent has a good job available. I feel I will need to build up a team if I go to Africa, because currant teams barley pass the group stage. N.A. will be faster.

Also need to win the World Cup, which seems do-able this year.

EDIT: Btw, I'm on some crazy 16 games without a loss lol. if I only I didn't draw all those games in the beginning of the season...
 
Well after my gloating of a 3rd place finish we have since entered into negotiations for a takeover and had a transfer embargo placed upon us. I hope it concludes within a month as I have a transfer to go through then.

I've also lost both my first choice centre backs to injury before the first game of the play offs :(

Edit: Lost to Middlesbrough on penalties, bittersweet I guess. Nice to see Boro back in the prem :)

Getting flipping sick of finding young players with good potentials, having them destroy a league for me, getting promoted, then saying they want huge moves.

Ungrateful prats.

I had a defender that is now playing in the Premiership, I made him who he is now. >.<
 
AFC wimbledon just offered 4.3 million for that player.
Bearing in mind he's just played in the BSP.

The board accepted it, I convinced them to reconsider though.
Flipping heck, I find these gems for a reason!

Is your club in financial trouble? I had this once when my best striker was sold from under my feet. I had absolutely no control. It's very frustrating. Now I have the opposite trouble. Too many to choose from, but nobody worth their salt will join me for less than say £40 million... lol I have to buy in youngsters and train them up myseld - only way to do it :(

They're in the red, but that should sort itself out in the coming seasons.

It's almost like every AI manager is trying to ruin clubs :p

Havant and waterlooville went down after I left them, I'm now in the same league as them.
Poor form :p

EDIT : I placed an advert for a job, Ed Harris (Prior Havant and Waterlooville player) says he'd love the job, but refuses to enter contract negotiations.

Right now I know it is certainly my fault I can't win a single game. I quit the job and they have thrashed every team since! (about 10 games in a row)

How can I be going so wrong? Are there any guides out there that can actually get an idiot playing this half-decently?

It's such a deep game there's loads of things that can go wrong :D
What do you want to know specifically?

Best bet is to keep things very simple at first. Use a strong defensive formation, and use counter tactics.
