**Official Gigabyte Z77X-UD5H Discussion Thread**

Turn off reboot on crash if you want to see the error:

System Properties > Advanced > Startup and Recovery > untick Restart (System Failure)

Should let you see the BSOD error - if you post it here we can probably help.

It just goes to a black screen if I untick restart...

However I can post the crash dumps analysis from WhoCrashed:

On Sat 07/07/2012 09:16:05 GMT your computer crashed
crash dump file: C:\Windows\Minidump\070712-8221-01.dmp

The crash took place in a standard Microsoft module. Your system configuration may be incorrect. Possibly this problem is caused by another driver on your system which cannot be identified at this time.
Google query: dxgkrnl.sys Microsoft Corporation VIDEO_TDR_ERROR

So video driver issue... however is not solved by reinstall of drivers (any of the current working ones for my card).

I do get the sinking feeling that the last crash from W7 bricked my card maybe...?

I've posted on EVGA forums with my situation (since nvidia forums are as usual, offline ¬_¬) : http://www.evga.com/forums/tm.aspx?high=&m=1664679&mpage=1#1664715

Looks like you'll have to go through full fault finding.

Can you try your graphics card in another PC? It's not unknown the GFX or motherboard to develop a fault and at least you can eliminate one as the cause

I have put my old pc's 8800GTS into my new system and managed to get drivers working and booting into win7, so I do believe my new card is dead?

I have opened an RMA with EVGA.

The occasional crashing problems people are having with this board are making me think twice about buying it and maybe just going ASUS instead :/ especially since no one seems to know just what is causing them :(

i havent had crash for cant remember how long
i was Asus fan,until i got P8P67 Pro..changed it 4 times,maybe im unlucky,but no more Asus and especially they so called "cust.supp."
im very happy with this GB board tbh, feels quality and amazing board to
i will be going Ivy in month time, maybe then crashes will start lol
i guess its just a matter of bios updates, and GB at least doing this very often

I've got two boards in two different configurations and not had any problems, best board I've had yet in 10+ years building PC's. Really pleased with them.

Quick update. Still ZERO hard locks or freezes since ripping out the old pci x-fi. Been fine with the pci-e titanium hd so seems that was my problem all along and I'd be willing to bet that's been a lot of peoples problems with freezing also.

Running F8 bios

Gigabyte has always been really good to me so I think i'm gonna go with this board and hope it plays nice, it could just be certain things that seem to need a bit of ironing out with it, and hopefully my hardware plays nice, lets hope so! :)

Just had another driver crash, this time with my old 8800GTS... :s

I wonder if it's either:

-Nvidia's new drivers are rubbish.
-This motherboard may have compatibility issues with Nvidia hardware?
-The fact that I'm using dual monitor?

Received my board today with a 3770k and it posts fine but can never boot into Windows 7. It very quickly BSODs and restarts about 4 seconds after the Windows logo starts to appear.

Pulling my hair out as there seem to be so many people experiencing problems with this board and I'm trying them all to no avail.

Updated to f8 first of all but yeah, it seems as though nothings helping. Anyone got any suggestions?

AH it was trying to boot in AHCI mode. Thanks so much. Got into Windows 7 now so would I be correct in thinking that if I installed and updated to all of the latest and necessary drivers I could toggle it back to AHCI and it would boot?

Zero lockups here also since I took the x-fi PCI out 3 weeks ago.

thats the best you can do,your system will fly ;)
Set it up now with Intel Rapid Start too and its incredible. No more start up or program loading time related frustration or headaches. Even though this board gave me a bit of jib over the last few days I'm glad I chose it in the end. It's a power house. The Xonar D2X was a PITA to get working properly too... was just a case of repeatedly trying to install the drivers over and over.

Is anyone running the board with 16GB of the Samsung Green RAM and if so what have you managed to get out of it? I can clock it to 2000MHz at the 11-11-11-28 timings but no higher. I assume that because its 16GB the 2400MHz ratings won't be possible.
