***Official GTAV PC Thread*** [Important warning updated in the OP]

I feel like creating a new thread entitled 'Noobies guide to GTAV online' as like others I don't really know where to start. Even my 13 year old Son won't even help his old man!.

On a side note it would appear GTAV has claimed its first victim....well at least here. After watching some random Youtube stream earlier, I took the Blimp up at night to view the city in its full splender. I had my light on that sits above my monitors and decided to switch it off so I could watch it in total darkness. I then decided great, I'll switch the light on and then I stupidly knocked over a full glass of wine all over my Corsair K70 for the second time!.

Anywho, I am hoping my new 970 coming tomorrow will keep my mind off this squidgy, horrible to type on Logitech G15 keyboard that has unfortunately has had to make yet another appearance.

TL;DR Don't drink and drive????

some people are suffering from a memory leak, you might be too

Thanks I'll have a look into that tomorrow. Just checked GPU Tweak and it says 3.5gb max vram used, so it would seem there is something not right there. In the settings menu the vram guide thing was at around 2.5gb with the settings I was using.

Fingers crossed the last game I had was running fine, but my settings are lower than other peoples with a similar spec to me in this thread.

pretty sure it was system RAM not gpu Vram

Am I the only one who was blown away by the pouring rain, huge puddles from a big thunderstorm? Never seen weather that amazing in game before..

They do need to do something with the mission multiplayer loading though

Test Drive Unlimited 2 had quite good weather effects especially rain/thunder.

When people say they are running this fully maxed out, do they genuinely mean everything set to maximum or "on", including taking off the limiter and all the settings in the advanced graphics menu?

Just trying to gauge what to expect when I start playing it tomorrow. I have a 3770k at 4.5ghz and a gtx 980.

I know in some games there are certain settings that can kill performance on even the latest hardware.

I'm running everything on max settings except MSAA and extended distance scaling which quickly goes over the VRAM limits if I increase it all the way to max.

Looking forward to trying Online, just moved house and connection date is before 27th though could get the router any day.

Currently getting prepped for my first heist in story mode. Rockstar really have done a beautiful job, masterpiece even.

I still only have one character to play with!! I assume I need to put more time into it? If so the rest of the family need to go on holida my ;)

I'm amazed how well this runs on my 780m laptop. The FPS ranges from 30-60 with all settings turned up apart from the MSAA and TXAA but even when it drops it remains smooth. I'm seeing just over 3.6gb of V-Ram being used.

Even though this is my 3rd play through now I'm still enjoying it...

yaay, im in :)
after playing the start of the game i crashed with a memory issue but i needed to stop then anyway as i could smell my 7950 getting hot, apparently it reached 102c :o
think il get the hoover on it before i play again :D

Don't use a Hoover use a straw and blow. Hoovers can damages small electrical components!

Yeah saw it tonight it was awesome the puddles and fx for it. Make sure the setting for effects like that is turned up a bit to appreciate them at their best tho.

TXAA is a nvidia option. Might not show if it detects amd? To use txaa u must use msaa at least x2 for it to work. Should be near the FXAA and MSAA options ingame under options/gfx

Game is insane. Had a go online tonight with a friend and the heists are brilliant! Had to get rid of a car by setting it alight but set myself alight instead, turned into a huge fireball and had to throw myself into a canal. Canal was like a foot deep, was funny as hell.

Runs great to say it's only just come out!

Simply put, this is a masterpiece. Amazing with all it's complexities that it has been virtually flawless on and offline. Really puts it into perspective when you stack this release up against most of the big titles. Highlights just how far standards have fallen from the like of ea and ubisoft. Rockstar have delivered everything they promised.

Minus points (unless I'm missing something) for unskippable startup splash videos and some parts where you can't escape out to the menu until the game has finished certain ingame sequences :|

On the way to my Mother in Laws at quarter to midnight the other night, on the way to use her internet to unlock the game, I was stuck behind a Peugeot 208 at the train crossings and all I could think of was the screen shots someone posted in the other GTA V thread from a heavily modded GTA IV, along with the notion of how good real life looks.

Only played a couple of hours last night, though been playing since about half eight now; on a marathon sitting like I have not done since Syndicate on the Amiga.

On a 780m laptop myself. Using the Geoforce rec settings, either those or default not sure which, except with V-Sync off, never dropping below 50 FPS as far as I can see, with ever so slight screen tearing occaisionly; V-Sync on it can drop to 30 FPS, though no tearing.

*Edit. After saying that, you more than likely already have it switched it off and your settings are simply higher. :D
