***Official GTAV PC Thread*** [Important warning updated in the OP]

just wow.... left my pc running al night downloading the game. Woke up this morning to Installation Failed!

Should be done by time I'm back from work though.

I did the same, I think they hot fixed the download speeds as I was getting 980kb/s when I went to bed and when I started it this morning was getting 19mb/s

Also, is Snapmatic - the thing on the Rockstar Social webby that shows your snaps working for anyone? All my previous PS3 snaps seemed to have vanished and I have nothing in my collection now, not even the ones I took today on my PC version.

I have had to manually upload my photos from the game. From the menu system where you can select map, options, game etc - the tabs move along by the < > arrows (or you can use keys) and the photos tab will appear. However you can only upload from the thumbnail overview screen, you can't choose to upload once you open a photo for some reason. Also, it it caused the one and only crash I have had in GTAV for some reason. Locked the game up, but luckily not the system.

I haven't even looked at most of the game options available, only the graphics ones, so there could be an option to enable auto upload of photos onto Social Club, it would make sense, but I don't know if it exists. So I have just uploaded a few manually. Pretty sad that I have spent more time marvelling in the scenery than actually doing missions! :p

I was getting good performance last night when I turned the textures up (resulting in having basically everything on high-veryhigh), but twice my PC BSOD during the couple hours of play. Hasn't BSOD since I can remember and I've played plenty of demanding titles on my rig. Gonna put the textures back to normal and keep under the VRAM limit as that's the only reasonable thing it could be.

Sorted my 800x600 issue. It was teamviewer. God damn program causes so many issues.

Couple of gripes with game.

Trying to play online with friends is a nightmare and when I bring up the rock star overlay I have no way of getting rid of it

I have noticed my gpu getting absurdly hot whilst in game. My reference R9 290 hits about 82c during some occasions in MP. It normally runs at around 75c.The only other game to push it that hard is Minecraft Feed the Beast with high res textures. It hasn't caused any problems so far though.

Anyone else had BSODs with this? Had a couple last night but got a feeling it's due to my CPU overclock becoming unstable, or a dodgy windows install.

One thing that's annoying me in MP - at the sides of the map it shows you where things like missions, your safe house etc are so even if far away you can drive in the right general direction. On the PS3 it used to show you friends/players too.

Now it doesn't - finding people on the map is a real pain as you have to expand it by pressing Z 3 times in order to get it display distant players.

Anyone else found this?

Online play is a bit of a mare but great once you do manage to join with mates. I was getting invites off of mates, would accept then would get dumped in some random other MP map with no friends on. I did eventually manage to join up, then after waiting because my brother was stuck doing online tutorial missions (which I somehow missed doing) and after messing about for a bit we did one of the briefcase icon missions and had to get money bags from the top of a high rise bank and deliver it back to a racecourse. We were all wobbling about in helicopters. None of us had flown a helicopter in game up til then so was a sight to behold. Was great fun though, just a shame it is such a pig to join up with friends currently.

- In answer to Fox above, if you have friends or maybe crew mates on the map, they seem to show up as a red/blue circle and can be seen on the minimap if fairly close but if further out then yes, as far as I could see you have to open the large map and try to find them

anybody running sli 680's 2GB? Frames are decent, drops to mid 40's in the city. Wouldnt want it to any lower than that though. Im guessing my vram will be the limiting factor here as my gpu usage is like 70 each?

The reference 290's were designed to average about 80-90 degrees under load if you use auto fan control.

Mine has always run at around 85 under load, sometimes just touching 90. The card was designed to run hotter than many in the first place though.

try turning off crossfire to see if thats the issue
~

also for others whats the best way to get strength up

I will try disabling it for now and see if that helps.

Anyone with stutter in Xfire mode - unplug your second monitor and it sorts it out!

I would, but I have x4 monitors setup, maybe if I turned them off? they all linked via daisy chain.
