***Official GTAV PC Thread*** [Important warning updated in the OP]

GPU is icy cold, its the CPU that's the issue. No problems any other games, I was curious if people are seeing big CPU loads an higher than usual temperatures running GTA V?

My temps are fine but the CPU is being hammered on all cores, 2500k. Might want to check your cooler hasn't been clogged up with dust or something. I always forget about CPU temps as not many games hammer it really.

I can also confirm this. My CPU temps are under control, but CPU usage on all 4 cores (4670k) hits 90% often and I get spikes to 100% which causes stuttering. There has to be something wrong, I've seen reports of this on AMD CPUs too.

Finding it tough to decide on an upgrade path for this. It runs pretty well on my system but wouldn't mind getting a bit more out of it.

Currently I have:

i7 2700k @ 4.4Ghz
GTX 780 3GB
8GB RAM

It's running on my 7200rpm mechanical drive.

Other than SLI or spending big bucks for 10-15% increase overall it doesn't seem worth it to upgrade the CPU or GPU. So I'm left with either going SLI, adding another 8GB RAM but I'm not sure if it even uses 8GB?

Probably going to get an SSD for it too.

Any feedback? Cheers.

Hey,

I'm new to GTA V like most, i also avoided all news about it on consoles! Can someone tell me what you can do on the online version?

So far i've just been playing the single player story mode!

SSD by a long way mate, bang for buck it's the number one upgrade you can make to your PC these days.

SSD and SLI would likely give the best experience. The SLI scaling is excellent in this game.

A CPU upgrade is unlikely to make any difference TBH.

An SSD will only improve online loading times and the SP only loads when you start it up, texture streaming in this game is good and runs fine on a mechanical drive. If you want tangible in-game benefits, then SLI is the best route.

Not sure if this is normal but my 7990 doesn't seem to be 100% optimised according to AIDA64.

It ranges between 50 and 95% on each core, shouldn't it be close to 100% all of the time?

FPS ranges between 50 - 80

I have installed the latest AMD drivers too (15.4)

How can I get a custom number plate in this? The ifruit app for smartphones seems to only cover the console versions.

Only managed to do the prologue and first missing before I had practice last night. Got it running pretty nice with most settings on high/v. high @1080p but sometimes going down to around the 35/40fps mark. Need to tweak a few settings to eek a few more FPS but on the whole my god it looks stunning.

Looking forward to getting stuck in tonight to continue the story mode. Might transfer my character and jump into Online too :D

I like the fact you can hot swap from KB & M to pad on the fly and it changes the help icons to whichever you're currently using.. Nice touch.

An SSD does NOT improve multiplayer loading between missions and back to main, this is something that Rockstar needs to patch. Believe me I have tried both a HD and an SSD, it's still awful.

What's the TS server you guys use? Or do you have a crew at all? Did some heists with randoms but more often than not the second it was all over and we re-entered multiplayer, they killed me and took some monies :(

Edit: Just seen there's an ocuk TS, I'll have to look into that :)

Alex mate, did you get this on Steam, as I didn't see ya online lastnight. We should team up buddy and so some heists, I won't steal ya moneyz ;)

Having migrated from PS4 to PC, the loading times are massively improved across the board, especially online! Maybe it can use some tweaks here and there to improve it, but it is by no means slow in comparison to consoles.

Not steam I'm afraid buddy - got it through a keysite so it's a rockstar social club version, in hindsight steam would definitely have been better for social play etc annoyingly :)

This is just based on the time it takes for a server slot to be created and for your played to sync with that world as far as I can see.

The key problem is that we are forced to join an online world instance just so we can then leave it to join another, and that this transition takes for ever.
