***Official GTX 670 thread***

My Gainward stock 670 has just been posted back. I couldn't stand the whine the fan emitted even at idle. Terrible.

Can anyone with a Windforce card confirm that it's near-silent at idle clocks please?

Damn, hope mine isn't that bad. I have an xfx power supply with a stupidly noisy fan though so I probably won't notice any difference.

Really not liking what hearing about fan whine on the reference models...

This will be the one thing to make me send em back.

Hopefully it's only a couple of dodgy ones, or hopefully I am not sensitive to this particular frequency :(

WHARRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRR!

Was the sound of my reference one, although it was silent at idle.

I'm thinking of making a hole in the side of my case next to the gpu slots and adding a low rpm 120mm fan, my p180 case isn't really that great when it comes to air flow around the pci-e slots, will test the card first and see hot it goes.

there was an article a little while ago, though annoyingly I can't find it now, where they tested virtually every combination of fans positions and they found that adding a side fan was the single best addition you could make given any other combination

My windforce 670 is the quietest gfx card I've had, now my pc is so quiet I can hear the pump in my Antec Kuhler 920, couldn't before, and for me its the same noise even when playing my games, doesn't go over 38% (20% idle) fan speed, my last card idle'd at 40%!! :)

Prices gone up on the asus and gigabyte. I already registered and am keeping my KFA2 now anyway, think I'll also attach some ramsinks to it.

My PC always has a low whoosh noise. The KFA2 is only louder than the rest of the PC at over 72% so the sound levels are fine, and its only barely audibla at 75%, wont even notice it with headphones on.

I set my custom fan profile like this, so it goes up to 75% at 68 degrees:

During several heaven runs in a warmer room, it didnt go past 66 degrees / 72% fan speed.

Its completely adequate cooling wise for 1250 Mhz with a cooler reseat.

Some VERY interesting results so far...

Just completed a heaven bench at 1350/7160, on air my power consumption floated around the 85-89% mark, under water it sits around 73%...

Going higher.
