***Official GTX 670 thread***

I'm a bit dissapointed with the Asus cooler this round, its not a colossal 3 slot cooler like my 570. I'm sure the cooler on mine would keep a 670 in the 50's under full load.

Under 50C on full load?, you talking heaven bench marking? I doubt that very much in my case, in fact I don't think any 670 would stay under 50C on full load tbh, that would be hard to archive with a silent fan profile, I also have a passively cooled radeon x600 sitting in the slot below running dual screen kicking hot air up.

Overall though I would say gigabyte win this round in terms of performance vs fan noise, they seem to have it just right, good clock speeds with rather low fan noise.

Right - got beta driver 301.40 on the system with my 570. Do I need to change this going from a 570>670 ie reinstall or something or can I just swap the cards around?

I'd uninstall > install card > install just to be safe.

Also what's all this 'showstopper bug' about on 301.40? Hmm I wonder if that is a posh name for 'driver stopped responding'.

Not sure but if it isn't working properly just reinstall. Same drivers though so should be swap and play :)

I'd uninstall > install card > install just to be safe.

Think I'll uninstall then reinstall just to be safe. Cheers guys

just found out that my 670 (MSI OC) will be waiting for me when I get home form work :D going to install it and try the 301.40 beta drivers to see how it goes, will post if I have any troubles :)

I'm bored now :(

Might see if I can get this memory clock higher than +600.

Edit: +750 so far, this is what 1354/7500 will net you in 3dmark11 :o

Thanks for your efforts pgi. Disappointing indeed as I managed 1360 on the stock cooler but I think the block will stand you in good stead over the next few months if we get a custom bios. Not convinced about this effective 1.21V and I would be tempted to say that you would just be heat limited if you ramped up the voltage a little once able to.

Perhaps, I'm digging around to see if anyone has flashed the 680 Windforce bios on to a 670 Windforce, the PCB's are the same, phases the same etc... but the 680 windforce has a 300w limit, the 670 variant is limited to around 250w, which I can only presume is limited to the bios.

Its such a shame Nvidia felt they had to lock down these chips so much, firstly its almost killed the fun of overclocking and secondly if they were 'set free' then without a doubt they would walk all over a highly clocked 7970.

If the 'ghz' edition 7970 is well priced nvidia could well be staring at a price drop on the 670 sooner than expected, I notice the windforce has crawled up to the £370 mark.
