***Official GTX 670 thread***

The only 4gb versions on EVGA's website have a backplate, but with cards that come with backplates it's usually mentioned, so i'd presume not for the time being until Gibbo says otherwise :)P

Cheers mate, yeah I did see that on their forums. Hopefully Gibbo will clear it up

I really don't think it's worth it tbh, we're at a point in the generation where most games are console ports that run like silk even on a mid range gpu, I've upgraded from a 570 purely to keep with current gen and ditch a card that had no warranty, I'm not really expecting my games to feel any different tbh.

As great as the 670 is, I wouldn't upgrade from a 580. Still, each to their own. :)

Bah I wanted an excuse to upgrade :P, guess I'll hold off. Maybe.

Would there be heat issueswith 3 670s in SLI using air cooling?
The top and middle cards wouldn't get much air would they?

Trying to decide if I need 2 x 4GB cards for 5760*1080 gaming or if 3 x 2GB would work better?

I suspect there likely would be, as youve mentioned due to the spacing of the cards. Ive found even with dual sli there can be a large difference in temps between top and bottom card. This is on a board with pretty good spacing.

Man, I can't believe you guys made me get a 670. Wasn't even planning to buy a GPU, but I couldn't resist :D

Looking forward to tomorrow. Gunna run some benchmarks with my 5870 so I can compare tomorrow.

570's will be more powerful, unless you OC the nuts of the 670 in which case they'll be roughly the same.

(please note, the statement above is based on crude figures)

Thanks :D

I thought he said he didn't like blue PCB's :o

I do hate the blue PCB, but quality > Aesthetics. It will look terrible in my PC, but the Asus was £20 more, not in stock and only 6+6 pin.

Bah, went to sleep at 9 pm, just woke up with terrible painful throat infection more painful than ulcers :(

The short PCB is really putting me off getting the EVGA model. Such a shame as It would look epic in my black/white build:(:(

Why the hell would they ruin such a thing.

I remembered that I might have ran out of MX3.

I always reseat my graphics cards coolers and its always reduced temperatures by around 5-8 degrees compared to out of the box temps.

Great reading W3bbo's review but did laugh at this :

it really is that small. Hopefully, women across the world will be proven right when the say 'size doesn't matter'!

:D

I was thinking of the 680 but I'm convicning myself the 670 may be the better end of deal.

Can't wait to fire up solitaire eh! :p:D

Which one did you get?

The MSI, went for cheap and pre overclocked with the year extra warranty over the fancy ones, seeing as I'm replacing a 7950 with it (not for performance reasons, but because i have two monitors that must be connected via DVI - one 2560x1440 IPS and one 120hz both 27") so i didn't want to get the expensive ones as i've already lost enough ££ with my mistake on the 7950 purchase :(
