*****OFFICIAL OcUK/JW IP35 Pro THREAD*****

i'm reading it from the bios. So i set the bios vcore settings to 1.23 volts, but when it reboots, the bios shows the voltage as being 1.42 and my cpu temp just starts rising.

jinj what bios version are you currently running as the same was happening with my board before i updated the bios to the current version(1.3)which has solved most if not all the problems that occured to us when fiddling with the board. As i was saying I had the same problem before updating so give it a try it you are not already @ 1.3, please come back for more help if that doesnt solve your issue

hiya, im looking to upgrade

was interested in this board and a e2200 for it

currently i got am2 m2n-e asus, the 2.2gig single core amd64 (cant remember the number of it now) his x1950 pro, 2 seagate sata2 barracuda, corsair hx520 psu, and some crucial ballistix 2gig kit pc5300

what i would like to know if i got the board and the c2d chip would i be able to use the rest of the crap i got lol, other than the amd n asus, or should i pick up some new memory too.... basically want to sort of plug n play lol

wont be ocing it untill i read a lot more on how to do it etc....i read the forums a lot but am a total noob at this never tried it

was looking to get into dual core at last and didnt want to throw money at the crap board i already got... which is very memory fussy (the ballistix was on the qvl) its something to do with the voltage settings on the board only goes to 1.9 or something

ty for any help :)

If you are not overclocking then get the fastest X2 AMD (6000?) and a graphics card upgrade instead. A 3.0GHz unclocked AMD X2 will beat out an unclocked 2.4GHz E2200. And if you play games then a graphics card upgrade will get you far more performance improvement than a new motherboard and CPU. Your ballistix RAM is still probably the best performance RAM on the market at stock. I certainly wouldn't change it, and if you're not running a 64-bit operating system there's not a lot of point in buying another 2Gb of it. Sorry, but your PC sounds like a well balanced budget system that doesn't need a lot of upgrading. Stick a better CPU and graphics in it and sell your existing stuff you counter the cost - you should be able to get £10-15 for the CPU and £60+ for the graphics which will just about pay for the CPU then get an 8800GTS to complete a decent upgrade and enjoy.

ok guys tryed the settings you suggested with no luck, the only joy i have had is now the 667 strap took and the cpu is now slightly overclocked but its a far short drop than what i was expecting from this board, memory dividers still wont set ram speed, guess ive just been really unlucky.

Could you post all your screens please as this board will clock, and I'm interested in anything that inhibits it.

i'm pretty sure i had flashed it to the latest version (1.3). I'll try it again when overclockers send me a replacement board, and if that doesnt solve my problems, i'll come back here. Oh, one more thing, i set my Sata settings to ACHI but my sata dvd rom drive didnt seem to recognise any windows xp/vista installation disc. Is this normal?

If you had AHCI then then you had v1.3. No, that doesn't sound normal, but try plugging your DVD ROM into the other controller and see if that works.

I haven't been keeping up with the thread and I'm missing anything relating to the SATA fixes, does the new BIOS support SATA300/SATAII yet?

Is it similar to an IP35-E? Very close pricing from very different names(Well, brand names, I mean =P). Sorry if I'm being noobish or anything.

napalm666 to be honest i upgraded from a 6000 x2 to a wolfdale chip and just havent looked back despite what everyone else is saying however for my gfx i have got the x1950 xtx :) so there are still areas in mine that need a little updating but hey no budget rigs perfect :)

Is there any need for a 1.4 BIOS upgrade, and if so its there a estimated ETA on the upgrade. Just wondering if anything is left that would prevent me buying this, (well apart from the X38 version...)

Not really. V1.3 works as advertised. For it to be perfect for me, I'd like to see a wider range of voltage adjustments for the CPU (especially downwards for the E8x00 series) and also a higher manual limit for tRfc. Other than that, it's now getting the same performance out of my CPUs as my more expensive Gigabyte, ASUS and Abit boards. At that point, I can't really see any reason not to buy one.

If they had been out & this price 6 months ago fair enough but you can buy equivalently/better spec'ed branded P35s for similiar (or less) these days ...

Back to the Abit threads for you Buff. Although I can see the confusion - the initial BIOS didn't work properly and it's called an IP35-Pro - just like the Abit:p

When the X38 comes out, it'll be interesting to see what happens to the price of the other X38 boards.

no real need for the x38 if you got a wolfdale and 1 of these boards :) good ram and a good graphics card now is there?

There is a 7-15% increase in graphics speed in Crossfire mode with the X38, but other than that, no, I don't see any reason to spend more for essentially the same functionality. Some firewire ports maybe, but that's about it.
