Server/Site Updates

  • Avatar and file upload for LinkTart site fixed.
  • Live map is online again (full render in progress atm).
  • Web chat no longer getting names wrong.
  • Forum sig.

Still working on:

  • Additional site styling.
  • Test server for mod updates + crafting bench replacement. Also testing finally bringing the old world online.

Giving up on:

  • Restoring toString's house. I'm sorry but everything I've tried has failed. We can help out with admin summoning/gm mode to get you back to as close as possible as before.

Should be coming up any second but I'm not really sure of the cause of these issues. It may be a routing issue.

edit: Seems knackered still. Will have to leave it for a bit and hope for the best.

Good to see the ability to connect is back ...... but i am still getting the same error. Have tried a few t'internet suggestions any ideas peeps as i really want to try the multiplayer :)

So, you've downloaded the launcher from the linktart website? Have you told it to update at all? At the moment you should say "no" when it asks you. If you've already done this just download the launcher again and from now on say no when it asks you to update.

Just updated WorldEdit so it now works with mod blocks. This will mean we can sort out a lot more of the issues with loss of player buildings/etc a lot easier.

I will carry on working on the issues we're currently having.

Just to throw this out there we are currently considering a new world (again, sigh) to try and avoid some of the further issues. Player builds would be copied across in such a case obviously. We'd probably copy from the current old world too so we can just avoid having it.

(All to be discussed but I'm currently thinking a rough limit of one big build per player + one small house to house all their materials). We'll be flexible about this as we want to inconvenience players as little as possible.

I'm also thinking about Forrestry and the like. I guess we should really wait for 1.3 to be supported by most of the mods though.

We don't have to provide anything so you can be sick all you want.

I will put a download of it up online when I get the chance and when I find somewhere to host the 1GB file for me. I'm not having it on the linktart webspace.

any other tools you can recommend for keeping an eye on your server from work ?

SSH/putty (if on linux) or rdesktop/vnc if on windows. You can also enable the query port so you can use standard web-based game server monitors to keep an eye on uptime/connections.

http://wiki.bukkit.org/Server_Remote_Toolkit - this provides remote restart/close/console functionality and is quite handy

https://github.com/StevenLawson/BukkitTelnet - this just provides telnet functionality. I prefer it to the console provided by the above personally.

I'm behind a proxy at work, hence why mymcadmin appealed as it runs its own webserver.

Not bothered about paying the £10 for the pro version.

Ah right, can't get through to port 22? You could always set the SSH server to run on port 443/80. Once you SSH in it would be a simple matter to tunnel everything through it and then you could even play Minecraft on your work machine.
