If it is on the test server, then why not just "private" the chest like most other people?

It wasn't in a chest, it was actually part of the area I was building in. Ruined floor etc.

Post time stamps and more details but as per previously, nobody can lay claim to mines due to the nature of the way the underground joins up.

I tp'd back to my house with a stack full of porkchops and half a stack of iron + my tools and apparently i suffocated and its all gone...

I didn't claim a mine, I claimed a dungeon and a few blocks around it for expansion, but I never claimed a mine, regardless of what they and maxi will tell you. They pretty much tore it all up, then found dim ore in a wall/floor, and took that aswell.
And destroyed the mob spawner, which I was going to use as a table/spawner

And time stamp: When did doctor who start cause that was when it happened.

Again, tried to /home from spawn and it keeps suffocating me. Almost like the chunk doesn't load.

it seems a lot easier to find ores in 1.8, found 8 diamond already from a few hours play! Quite glad really, it was too tedious before digging networks of mines just for a few diamond.
