They patched yesterday to increase the frequency and sizes of invasions which might account for it.

Talking of invasions, there are some new ones coming.

New Zone Invasions Stillmoor – An Eye for An Eye

Picture Godzilla vs. Mothra vs. Mechagodzilla. This is a clash of the titans between 3 collosi as you fight in a three-way-battle of titanic proportions!

Iron Pine Peak – Planar Chill

Stretching along the spine of the zone you will need to defend and hold strategic points across the map and defend the Icewatch from the maelstrom of invaders from the Plane of Air.

Shimmersand – Scourge of the Sands

Merchant Caravans herd their precious cargo towards safer footholds across the treacherous desert of Shimmersand. Escort and defend these vulnerable lifelines and stop the Plane of Earth from cutting off the trade routes.

More on the LFG tool

LOOKING FOR GROUP

* You can now use the new Looking for Group tool to queue for Dungeons, Rifts, or group quests with other players on your server!

* The Looking for Group icon has been added to the main menu tray in the lower left corner of the screen, and can also be opened with the default shortcut key 'I'.

* Select from the group roles available to you based on the roles you currently have saved on your character.

* Queue for specific dungeon or expert dungeon groups, or join the random dungeon queue. Once a group is formed, members will be teleported to the chosen dungeon zone.

* Rift and quest groups formed through the Looking for Group tool are not automatically teleported.

* Queue for group quests currently in your or your party members' quest journals from anywhere in the world and find others also looking to complete these quests!

* Additional rewards are granted for completing a random dungeon through the Looking For Group tool - these can be gained up to seven times per week but are not restricted in number per day, so you can do as many or as few as you like each day of the week up to the weekly cap. Save them all up for one day or spread them out; your choice!

* Additional restrictions based on gear also apply to forming groups for tier 1 and 2 Expert Dungeons through this tool.

Is there a free weekend for this coming up at all? Really fancy giving it a go but dont wanna pay out for it without having had a go first.

The free weekends have finished now but they are soon bringing in a recruit-a-friend trial system (possibly in around 4 weeks time), I'm sure there will be plenty of people on here willing to recruit-a-friend.

You're quite an ******* aren't you
Waaaaaaah, a mean man called me a name! If you'd put a question mark on the end, I might have answered :D

lol details pookie details!
Someone had a proper strop in guild chat about rogues and a host of other things, then declared he was done with Rift, logged out and then deleted his character - it was followed by multiple "lol"s and "wtf"s - but mainly laughter. Imagine one of my BC2 rants, except at the end I went and deleted my account, the game, burnt my PC and kicked the cat around the room. It was a serious meltdown and, despite someone being all upset about it (Nerusy need hugs?), I found it rather amusing :D

edit: Actually, it might have been mages that caused his tantrum - either way, still funny!

You know what, it did seem like the angry German kid - thanks for the reminder! He's funnier though.

My only regret is that I didn't grab your character's name before someone else did - I liked it. That said, I wouldn't want anyone mixing us up! :D

Calm down dear.

Anyone know of a fix for the view distance? The graphics in this game are a little questionable. a lot of large items will just randomly pop up and the view distance is very grey.
It should be something that can be easy to fix, because heck Vanguard from years ago had better graphics.

And now an old Vanguard screen. This image doesn't belong to me and is just a low graphic image but you can see the view distance is far greater.

Firstly, ROFL @ floating horse. Best thing ever.

Secondly, imagine your draw distance in a circle, so when you're looking straight forward, that's you're furthermost point being drawn, anything to the left and right of that gets cut off.

1.2 is almost here and with it, another event.

Trion Worlds and the Rift development team have set up an aggressive and impressive schedule of updates to the game. Following last month’s v1.1 River of Souls event, players were left wondering what was coming next. MMORPG.com News Manager Suzie Ford had the opportunity to chat with Trion Design Producer Hal Hanlin and Lore Lead Morgan Lockhart about the forthcoming v1.2 Spoils of War patch. Our discussion centered primarily on the prelude event that is scheduled to run from May 4th through May 9th.

As the name implies, the Spoils of War is related to the River of Souls event. Telarans and the Ascended successfully overcame Alsbeth and her minions and now the rewards have arrived. The prelude offers players four new daily quests centered on the mysterious treasure-like items literally falling from the sky in some cases.

In the first instance, golden coins have been raining on Sanctum and Meridian but when city folk pick them up, they are corrupted by a strange taint. Because the Ascended are a bit more resistant to such corruption, the Mendicant Order and the College of Planar Studies are anxious to have these tainted coins collected and returned for further study. The collection of coins is a once daily quest that takes place only in the capital city of each faction.

If coins falling from the sky aren’t enough to give pause for thought, players will face an increase in Earth and Fire rifts that are exploding across Telara even in places they had not been previously seen. Interest will undoubtedly be piqued, however, by the fragments of ancient dragon eggshells being dropped by invaders and Rift monsters. Again, the College of Planar Studies and the Mendicant Order are both interested in having these dragon eggshells rounded up for further study. There are three daily requests sending the Ascended all over Telara in search of these rare but mysterious items.

When returning with either gold coins or ancient dragon eggshells, players will be rewarded in impressive ways as the “Spoils of War” name implies. On turning in the quest items, players will receive a container that may hold, for instance, a limited-time companion pet called the Gritty Kitty. No, this isn’t a dirty cat but is one that has been rescued from the Plane of Earth. Other rewards might include rare hard-to-find artifacts, crafting currency and even plaques of achievement.

Both Lockhart and Hanlin described the prelude event and directly tied it to the overarching story that Rift embodies. Quests are story driven. Invasions and rift activity are tied to the ongoing and evolving history of Telara. Hanlin compared Rift to live theater and said that the Trion team is nimble and can do things that other MMOs simply cannot do. If the prelude to the Spoils of War update is any indication, he may be right on the mark.

So how's everyone doing with Rift? I didn't re-sub after the 30 days because cash is short, but my entire clan seem to have pretty much burnt out on it - most of them just maxed out and quit, the remainder stopped playing because the others had.

Thought this one might have a bit more staying power, but it seems to lack anything to keep a community together, a worrying trend with just about every mmo launched recently.

Some of Covenant have gone, namely Sphinx (rage quit, miss him), Allexa (Moved onto Global Agenda, will be back) and a guy had an argument and quit.

But, I haven't had the 'get up and go' for this lately...Really enjoy it when I can be bothered to play it.

And hopefully they will do this world event properly, not like last time.
