******Official Star Citizen / Squadron 42 Thread******

Delivery, it'll get you use to traveling around, landing and you can loot the various locations and drop them at the space port location of your choice.

My first tip is to use a medical centre to transfer your regeneration location to either Seraphim station (orbits crusader) or Tressler (orbits Microtech), then when you have a bit of loot, transfer it to the station inventory.

Regenerating at these locations are far faster than planet locations just now as you don't have to travel far from your spawn hub to ship.

After you've got a comfortable with travel, landing etc start looking for other types of mission, mercenary missions can be good - if they work, I've tried a few today and every one of them was bugged. I'd always suggest watching someone else do them on youtube first so you have an idea what you are getting yourself into though!

There is a new patch coming which hopefully will be out by the time I get back from work in a week or so.. it should improve stability, salvaging, mission bugs etc - but it will likely introduce several others.

Delivery - learn the basics, know the system.
Mercenary / bounties - afterwards when you have some fall back cash, gear etc and a bit more confidence.

You can make decent money on mercenary etc but risk is higher obviously and realistically it will be more frustrating as bugs typically mean you die and lose everything you have on you (unless you manage to recover it). However with bunker missions etc you can loot the corpses and sell their guns, helmets etc to increase pay out as well as taking the "call to arms" mission which runs concurrently and gives you 500UEC with each kill.

I can only assume it's too much pre-christmas turkey and he's OD'd on the stuffing.

Come on Jonney, it's OK now. Here have some Ribena. It'll all be fine when the server FPS is higher post patch.

As i have not been following this game at all really

I wanted to wait until it came out of Beta, and into a retail release
i have just gone to the website and noticed you can now sign up and pay for a starter pack, so i guess its been released properly now then ?
a little confused i might add

It's in alpha but has large chunks of it playable.
Beta - who knows how far off that is really, could be years.
Release - Maybe my daughter will be able to play that before she retires (she's 13).

I'll be honest, there's a lot of broken gameplay loops, bugs etc and I get pretty annoyed at it most days I play BUT there are plenty of times you can play for 2-3 hours without a hitch and it's genuinely more fun than 99% of so called "AAA" games out there even in it's current state. Playing a game in development which is genuinely trying to push gaming tech forward is pretty cool.

That being said I don't recommend anyone buy in until it's released unless you are willing to gamble with that money disappearing and you getting nothing back, don't consider this an investment, it's a gamble and please, please do not buy individual ships. Use the money to buy peripherals if you want to improve your gameplay like the Tobii eye tracker, HOTAS, pedals etc. Buying ships with real cash is a waste IMHO as you can earn them in game.

You'd need to wait until the next free fly event, one just happened unfortunately and I'm not sure if there's one over Christmas, which would make sense - maybe?

Any of the guys know when it's due? they have them a few times a year.

PAGAN was always intended to be an OCUK org but happy to join another if someone forms one tbh. I'm not precious about orgs, more who I play with when I can actually get on!

TBH - Do we just need someone to create an OCUK SC discord server? I mean that's basically the missing link at the moment, orgs offer nothing in-game really.

You can rename orgs but not the spectrum ID I think so in-game the spectrum ID that would show up eventually is "PAGAN" e.g. same as the URL: https://robertsspaceindustries.com/orgs/PAGAN/

OCUK still free, but I won't be able to alter to it: https://robertsspaceindustries.com/orgs/OCUK/

So if people are precious about getting that, I suggest creating an org that has OCUK as the Spectrum ID for it. I can't as my account and my Dads both have org ownership associated with them. (PAGAN / JAVELIN)

I have been hovering over the buy button for a few days now, is this game worth starting? I have been looking for a freelancer type of game for ages I loved the space concept flying around and trading, salvaging fighting. I was looking forward to starfield but find it far more ground based.

It's not a complete game yet buddy, my advice would be to wait until a free fly event, they happen every few months. If you intend to solo though you'll have fun - but be missing out on the multicrew and fleet elements gameplay elements which are bags of fun. You can always organise to play with OCUKers though there's an increasing number playing :)

Any HOTAS setups that have zero amounts of that horrible rubberized coating ? It's the only reason I returned the Logitech X56, Felt horrible to touch.
Oddly I think only Logitech and Saitek (defunct now) used it. It also would fall apart over time and peel off.

Most others are simply plastic or metal / painted finishes.

I had the Saitek X55 and it had the same problem, the rubberised coating started to become sticky over the years regardless of how you cleaned it (or didn't). Logitech just seemed to ignore this and keep on manufacturing it the same way with the X56. shame as the Rhino's where decent sticks, it's like the company testers didn't use their own products.

There's a subreddit for that "Starcitizen_trades" not endorsing it btw it's got a lot of scammers but you'd at least get a price.

Just keep in mind that "Golden Ticket" as a concept has changed, it was originally for those first 50K or so people who signed up or backed the game, but more recently it's been used as a way to get access to a special F8 ship purchase page. I'm guessing yours is the first one, the second is technically a "gold license", but he community is full of muppets who conflated the two.
