******Official Star Citizen / Squadron 42 Thread******

We'll need to keep an eye out for when tickets are going up, probably months off.

CitizenCon 2954 returns to Manchester Central on October 19-20, 2024!

How do you top our biggest and best CitizenCon to date? You’ll have to come to Manchester this October to find out. We’re already sure this will be our best one yet. Join us to celebrate CitizenCon 2954, the epic adventures ahead, and the vibrant community that makes it all possible.

Please note: There will be an additional off-site event with extremely limited availability happening on October 18 - more information coming at a later date.

Not true to be honest, pressure is building, it peaks occassionally throughout the year but time is most definately starting to tick away louder IMHO.

Release isn't the end though, the plan was always for at least 10 years post full release. It's an IP they want to build upon.

I like the Cutter one, if you can hold off though you may get a better deal in a week or two when Stella Fortuna (around St Particks day) happens - or it may at least be a little green paint kit for the ship, it can be a bit random. Edit: just noticed the cutter is currently reduced, so it may not drop again.

All starter packs are basic ships but Cutter allows you to do a little more than the rest and it's a recent addition so it's a very polished ship with a bed (bed logout/login) and a little cargo. I'd suggest sticking with the cheaper ones though as once you go up to Avenger, you get close to Cutlass. They are priced to tempt you to "just throw the extra £20 at this one".

Cutter will get you started, play with a group of OCUKers and you'll quickly have money to buy ships in-game that allow you to solo money like the Vulture etc.

Cutter allows you to do bunker missions (combat) and small delivery missions both of which will give a bit of cash each time and allow you to get use to flight, navigation etc.

word of warning, configuring sticks is one of the reasons I sold mine. It can be painful due to the horrid menu system! I just didn't have the patience !

^ has a dual stick part which may help

Got to remember right now we're flying in a fish bowl with regular account resets etc.

The actual game world will be far larger but more importantly, long term consequences for lawlessness.

I was very much in the "scam citizen" camp, thinking it was a great idea but that it would never be anything more than a demo. This comes mostly from the complaints of a former RSI employee that I know but various articles etc as well. Then out of sheer boredom I tried it in the last free fly event and I've seen the light! Rather I've seen the vision and I'm 100% in!

What I mean is, there's a game here. Yes, it's pretty bare bones in a lot of places but there's absolutely nothing else quite like it. But, it's what this is going to become that's got me.

Ironically I'm probably a bit of a skeptic these days despite being around since day one. I did a series of vids on my youtube about the early days of development and looking back at some of the promises, dates and what we have now it's pretty clear there was a lot of nonsense and inconsistency coming from CIG. It got better as time went on and it became clear what realistic timescales looked like but they also got better as just avoiding hard timescales.

Don't get me wrong I don't regret backing, but I'm not a fan of the marketing FOMO tactics, referral system etc. They are one step away from cryptobros at times. However game wise I think for years I've seen it as ground breaking, it just keeps getting better and better.

Key thing for me now is that I can genuinely have fun with friends, chill on my own or talk to strangers in game and crew their ships. The pieces are starting to slot together.

Bored lost me when he started making tons of videos based on very little content, he rarely adds value to what he's discussing and drags them over the 10 minutes mark for Youtube algorithm reasons.

I don't dislike him, just he's down near the bottom of my list. He's a nice guy, but his video style isn't for me. I much prefer Supermacbro, morphologist, inforunners etc. At least their longer video times are generally justified by added content especially SMB. He does some great "living in my ship" sort of vids. Inforunners is interesting because they are mega deep in ships, complete fanboys but also know a lot historically about what's happened and their streams are good to listen to while "working" :)

F8C will be back, if anyone needs a golden ticket when it does just ask for help in here. I farmed for days for one but found out it was a patch bug and the chances were almost zero. They fixed it and I got one within 20mins doing building runs. Happy to help when it's back as I do those anyway :)

When it'll be back.. I reckon before citizencon this year. Happy let someone fly off in mine in the meantime if they want to try it (if I don't melt it for someone else).

Hey guys,

What is a golden ticket all about these days?

I've got mine and my Freelancer pledge from back in the Kickstarter, I tried SC a few years back, but like others have said I was hoping for my Wing Commander fix, and its just not materialised.

Recently there was a "Gold License" given out that if you found one would allow you to buy an F8C lightning.

The community calls it a golden ticket, CIG hasn't helped either as althought he official comms don't call it a ticket, they have made the slip a couple of times.

The actual golden tickets from 2012 still do nothing other than show an extra page on the account section of the website if you have one. I was also incredibly confused by this when it all started.

At some point we'll likely be able to get gold licenses again, but golden tickets were a one off (as far as we know, could well change).
