******Official Star Citizen / Squadron 42 Thread******

The pay2win argument is an interesting one and this game is definitionally pay2win, of course it is, i think it would be daft if we didn't all agree on that and when we do we can have a wider conversation about that.

So if you buy the C2 with cash then congratulations you skipped working your way up to owning that ship and you can earn a lot more money a lot faster than you can with a Drake Cutter, you win, but what did you win? You won missing out on part of the game. Well done.
It's more like pay for access to a wider game. I see the ships as essentially DLC unlocks, bought a mining ship - congrats now you can access the mining mini game, got yourself a fighter, good now you can die horribly to better players slower.

There's no real end game, nothing to win. All you are doing is rushing towards different gameplay, but not actually a terminal point where the game completes.

And all of this leads up to a game which is nowhere near complete. It won't affect the core supporters but they have to be aware that the optics on this slow motion car crash are dreadful.
Dreadful is an understatement to be honest. It's a lolcow of the gaming development world, on the one hand we have innovative new tech being developed, on the other we have no game to use it with.

Evocadi should be used to stress test the servers and to help find some edge cases.

Evo is not there to check if we can open the hanger doors.. Lol

Evo is used but a lot of bugs still get through due to the approach CIG have taken. Many times I've seen Humbug and others report the same bug over and over, yet it's still there 6 months later in the live version.

CIGs quality control is absolutely non-existent.

I don't think so with how looking unless 4.0 completely dies for a year or more and they can't fix it over that period of a 4.0 to 4.4 release schedule. Looking at the numbers on the tracker it still really hasn't taken a huge hit yet.
I'm thinking profit, not revenue. Marketing tactics year on year get more shady and desperate, that IMHO is an indicator of either worsening culture internally or pressure from execs to steady the ship. Either way it's not great. I am hopeful that money is going to good use on SQ42 though.

I've had some amazing interactions with randoms, few and far between though.

I can't help think the shear size of the locations and systems is counter productive, people are in such a rush trying to get from A-B so they can do basic preperation to take off that they rarely interact on the way there other than on the train etc.

I have been rescued a few times using medical beacons which was very cool !

Also ATLS price is madness, should be included with your hangar but - nobody is forcing you to buy it now, get it in game. I mean if anything is an ingame purchase so far, it's the ATLS!

I can't get my head around why they are building a 4.0 with a lot of its own modifications and updates while the bit that's critical to 4.0 is being R&D and bug chased on an obsolete build.
To offer players the opportunity to look for the same bugs they's reported a thousand times before. They know we love it.

Come on, I'm not that good. Whatever fits the narrative they are spinning around development at that time.

4.0 is becoming fairly toxic, if it's dragging on into 2025 then it needs a fresh coat of paint.

PS: Unless every single player is within the same world/instance, the economy talk is pointless.
It will work smaller instance wise if those instances share the same universal economy, so they an influence each other directly. Essentially making it the same world.

I have a feeling that won't happen and possibly can't though due to how CIG have historically talked about players being able to blockade locations etc - that wouldn't work if there was a few hundred copies of the same station etc.

I'm so out the loop, going to be great getting back into it when I do!

So again another year, another under performance by CIG. We can sugar coat it but that's just reality, they are still over promising and clearly unable to accurate judge their own capabilities as a studio to deliver.

Unless, SQ42 is near dropping which would explain the gap..

I disagree with this.

Reason is because just like in real life, generally each new car model has lots of improvement over older ones yet manufacturer's dont go improving a 5-10 year old car. instead what CIG can do is release a mk2 ships.

Forget improving a freelancer, release a MK2 freelancer and freelancer owners can melt the mk1 and grab the mk2 and others who dont have a freelancer at all can grab a mk2 from the get go
Dont' forget some are technically MK3, Mustang for instance. Initial MK1 was too small for the player model... :D

I don't really care about character animation etc in SQ42, I'm there for the story and battles same as the Wing Commander games.

I want cheesy over the top nonsense, great music and challenging missions. Ideally with few game breaking bugs.
