The problems I see and hear about from mates are the same things being repeated. Poor server performance and the current flight model are high up the list. FPS combat has been a problem for ages, and it's mainly down to desync. Also, spending an easy hour preparing for an org event, only to be unplayable for some players or to lose everything due to bugs, is really disheartening.
The direction the game is currently taking doesn't seem great either, particularly with the removal of the sandbox elements. I'm happy with dungeon/raid-style instanced content, but there also needs to be plenty of open places (Jumptown etc.) where you run into people. Currently, you can't loot players, ships, cargo, or components. You don't lose gear (ignoring bugs), so there's no real point in crafting or buying more than one of anything. The armour side of things I'm mostly happy with, transmog is a big part of the game for me. I want cool armour and to look how I want.
I was at Bar Citizen down in manchester the other week—the main one that CIG organised, in the same city as their main office and, I'm sorry to say, it was a bit crap beyond meeting up with mates. The staff member running it (I'm forgetting her name) was good, but I got the impression there wasn't any meaningful support from the company. Now yes, there was no actual convention this year, the bar events are meant to be more of a get together but... ehh. The junior devs who did show up (we only knew they were devs because we'd met most of them before) just sat at a table in the back, chilling. None of the higher-ups showed up, not even to give a quick thank-you speech before disappearing to avoid all the questions. I did get a cool decoration item code, though, and I had some good chats with other fans and mates who were there.
