******Official Star Citizen / Squadron 42 Thread******

I genuinely love this game, I'm so glad I was bored and tried a free fly a few years ago. There's just nothing else quite like it. I had so much fun running Onyx sites with some new players last night.

There is genuine reason so many of us have stuck around for so long through so much crap, this is year 14 for me, i backed when all you could do is load up your hanger to look at your ship, that was it.

And there is a lot of crap, OMG so much crap, the game is always full of bugs but the 4.8 patch made it unplayable and not for the first time.

There is a fundamental problem with what they are doing, to begin with this game was very much niche, it was the return of a legend in the gaming industry for people who grew up in the golden era of space fiction, the 1980's, Chris made a series of ground breaking smash hits in the 1990's, this is the successor to those.
It was really just tens of thousands of us who gave him millions to make our game.

The mentality of CIG was to build the game out as it was live, so constantly building it out but without the polishing and bug fixing bit that's supposed to come at the end of the development cycle.

To this day they still make the game in this way and the problem is its no longer a niche game for a few aging space dads, coming up to 7 million strong now its gone mainstream and mainstream gamers don't care about the technicalities of how this is funded and made in return, they get its not a finished game but they do expect it to be more polished than it ever is, and they are right! even for us veterans its been too long now, this game should be in a better state than it is.

the internal forum has blown up over the last couple of weeks, many F-Bomb You CIG threads, every time they took one down 3 more would appear, over the last week end they gave up moderating the forum all together.

They have acknowledged the complaint now and are changing the way they are developing it going forward, even i have been saying for a while to stop ramming tech and feature updates in to it every month and just concentrate on fixing what the game already is first, that is what they have promised to do. They say... we will see.

TF?????? this guy drinking too much Pips? Gasping Weevil Eggs evolve in to something more nasty than construction sealant munchers?

Also, we're getting creatures? we already have them. This ones on Pyro 1, there's lots more, you need to go out there and explore, there is no "Creature here and here" signs, you're supposed to discover them.

I think 2 hours is more than enough time for people to come back to collect their ships if they intend to do that, if not they probably just logged out and abandoned it.

This is why every other POI looks like Space Tesco's car park.

Edit: Also, make insurance claiming your ship because you could not be bothered to take it home the last time you logged out actually mean something more to them than a small in game credit sum.

Please tell me this is an in-game mechanic (i.e. you make a claim on your made-up jpeg spaceship as part of the game, like paying guards to be free from prison in other games) and not an actual insurance policy on your made-up jpeg spaceship.

Logged in for the first time this patch. I put an undersuit on and now can't remove it; I have no undersuit item slot. Turns out there's a bug this patch (fixed in the next) where either on first login or if you go to prison you straight up lose the undersuit item slot. The fix is to goto prison and die. Although when I jumped off the platform to die, I got stuck in a death loop. :D

Oh and of course last patch (or whenever) they did a full reset, so I lost everything that wasn't account bound. Yet the main draw currently is blueprint farming, which aren’t account bound. :/

It's not a bug I've seen, but this patch has been very dodgy indeed. My org ran @Mr109 through some of the Onyx missions tonight, and whilst hilarious bugs we're enjoyed by all it was tge worst I've seen it in a while.

@Cantankerous if you want to join us sometime, we'll make a lasting impression one way or another...:p:p:p:cry:

@jonneymendoza I'll message you my Discord info over in the morning

Most enjoyable indeed.

I tested 4.10 last night, yes both 4.9 and 4.10 are now in testing simultaneously..... i.. i don't know *sigh*

4.10 has instancing along with the return of Siege of Orison.

As before to take the shuttle from the roof of the Crusader Showroom at Orison, that takes you to a gathering area, a lobby if you like, this is different from how it was before, from there you take elevators to another shuttle station, if you enter the elevator with a party that you are not in you get a message telling you that and it will lock you out of the rest of the way.
This must be the instancing sorting point, if you are in your own party that elevator take you to a check in area for another shuttle, some times there is a force field over the scanning tunnel with "Please Stand By" notification, when that drops you can progress to the next shuttle, that shuttle takes you to the combat zone.

Ok, i didn't find any issues with the Instancing tech, that seems to work reliably, however the CPU performance was very low, i had sub 30 FPS and my GPU went in to a half clocked power saving mode, this is a bottleneck caused by the CPU, i'm not actually concerned about this, its not that unusual as sometimes they turn the analytics data processing up to 11 in these test builds and that hammers the CPU, there was also a lot of Desync, that could be related, IDK, it is a little different to Siege of Orison of old, they have turn it up, there's more going on, its a bit more hectic warzoney.... its fun.

This is one of the biggest complaints about this game at the moment.

A 4 man PVP party claims a solo hacker took them down in one of the PVP zones in Pyro, the accused uploaded this clip. Please excuse the fish eye effect he's running a very compressed field of view.
Anyway as you can see its not hacking, you can clearly see the party didn't see where he actually was half the time, looking in directions he was in a couple of second's ago, this is desync, and its a serious problem....

NPCs do the same thing. Teleporting all over the place.

You think you are hitting them and then they teleport behind you and suddenly you have loads of damage.

They need to sort things out or people will just not play this game. The competition doesn't have this problem.

Upped my system ram to 64gb (found some used sticks for quite cheap!) and it has made a slight improvement. Maybe 25% less stutters and pauses when running around. I'm seeing total usage going over 32gb.
