******Official Star Citizen / Squadron 42 Thread******

Actually you raised a good point there Paul, say you escape an exploding ship, you land on the nearest colonised planet - Should you have to make your way back to your "home" e.g. Hangar to get a new ship? perhaps have to use funds to get there or purchase whatever is available there in order to travel, or beg/borrow a lift?

I'd be in favour of some form of travel back, would make losing a ship a much bigger deal than "dead" and "instant-resurrection/teleportation"

Starfarer would be my guess, I suspect we'll see some Banu MM artwork soon of some kind as people can't stop moaning about the lack of info on it.

I have one but would rather see the older ships I don't have fleshed out e.g. Starfarer, Caterpillar etc.

I've kept up to date about the REC "drama" but didn't post here as it's mostly just that - pointless drama which most OCUKers wouldn't care about anyway. The vocal minority need a slap down from time to time, what I do find slightly depressing is that it's taken CR personally to intervene on more than a few occasions.

I was getting on fine with Elite and still play it a little - but the instant I flew out of the core systems to explore I realised just how wide it was compared to how deep it was (mile wide, inch deep) and lost a lot of my enthusiasm for it. It's one of the few occasions where I've wished for less, better quality content and hand crafted systems. I can't however fault it for not sticking to the remake idea, but I really hope they give it an injection of good content soon so I'll probably uninstall it.

I expect Star Citizen to be quite the opposite, but as always I'm being realistic about it - SC is a massive undertaking.

I've spent my load (ooer) already, only thing that will really cost more is potentially subscription and tbh I may just melt a ship to pay it in RSI credit. I'll probably dip back into the grey market to do it on the cheap (RSI are worth less than dollars).

nice update Paul, just been watching a couple of the latest AtVs and some decent progress as shown above. I can't believe the Freelancer is being worked on again, but then again I got rid of mine as I hated how it looked and felt inside (not the viewports - just everything else).

I'm a huge space sim fan so jumped on this early, then forgot about it completely when it hit Kickstarter then jumped back on board afterwards. I'd recommend anyone who isn't sure to create an account on the RSI site, back for $5 (buy a ship skin) and sit back whilst the backer rewards build up. If you are sure, grab whatever cheap package sounds nice and remember at the 3 year anniversary at the end of the year you can always melt the package (reclaim for credit) and grab whatever they throw out cheap as a thank you for backing :)

Personally I've hated the shop/site since day one, it's dreadful but plenty of fans leap to defend it, you do get use to it but that's not really the point of a website!

Nope!

Cant resolve the address, neither can nslookup

I suspect a lot of your issues with steam, games, saves etc are related to your ISP rather than anything else mate. Too many things not working at the same time lol.

Someone had an issue about 8 months ago with our TS, it turned out it was an issue with their ISP DNS servers.

I asked Concierge this week about the UK event, they said they didn't have any new info on it and tickets would go on sale about 6-8 weeks before the event.

The game isn't finished it's still a year from complete at least so there isn't really a manual yet to be honest mate. It's still in alpha testing for just one of several modules needed to create the game.

Had to redownload the entire client last night, had a backup but it wouldn't verify the patch :( 22Gb later and it's done at least.

Looking forward to seeing the multicrew ships later this year, just hope the social module for touring each others ships isn't delayed too much as that should be great fun :)

Arena commander feels far more smooth these days, I hadn't been on it for a while and just did a clean install, still not exactly great FPS but playable at least on my 7950.
