******Official Star Citizen / Squadron 42 Thread******

Can someone from PAGAN swap me over to a member instead of affiliate if there is space?

Thanks.

Also i forgot there is a website i will have a good look sometime today.

Will do mate :)

I feel the same about the package being tied. Mine is linked to a superhornet which is fine but I'd rather it was with one of the larger ships. If there's ever a CCU from superhornet to Tali then I'll do that and melt my tali for something else (not LTI just 2 years insurance and locked to my account)

6 confirmed Retaliators in the org at the moment which is awesome !

Most of the larger ships have manned turrets - someone in them or controlling them remotely on the ship (gunners), others have gimbled guns or fixed positions, I can't remember seeing much about auto-aiming turrets but remember you can use NPCs (you have to hire them) for turrets which is essentially the same thing.

The difference will be that the NPCs can die and will have varying skill levels.

Dave CCUs are coming for it mate same with the connie etc. They haven't confirmed specifics but hell they never do :)

I ditched PTU and went back to the vanilla client as my broadband simply couldn't keep up to date with massive PTU patches so a bit gutted to say the least!

My little 7950 manages around 10FPS on eyefinity (5760x1080) on max settings in the Asterioid PTU hangar, looks incredible though.

Still holding off until the end of the year for my PSU+GPU upgrade.. must maintain mental strength.. must ignore the OCUK MM!

Cant you just run with one monitor? My 7950 destroys it at high. Max is OK too, but high is perfect.

I want to do an upgrade for SC too. I'm skipping the 3xx(x) series and waiting for the die shrink. Going to buy a new monitor at the same time @ 144p-4k depending on what's sensible.

Wish I had access to the MM :( I've been keeping an eye out for a super cheap 290.

Oh I do run on one monitor, but playing in 3 most of the time then dropping to one feels odd :) Still no point upgrading until the newer cards are out as the current top of the range ones will plummet on the members market!

May treat myself to a brand new card for the first time in 10 years seeing as I'm 40 this year!

* I noticed there's a few prices and packages to buy. I'm pretty skint ( like most), dont have an awful lot of time to game due to younge family. What should i go for?

Easiest one, I or someone else will answer the others. Register an account on the RSI site and back a $6 ship skin, that registers the account as a backer and any future backer rewards for hitting funding goals will be applied to your account. You can always decide whether to actually get the game etc later and if you do you can "melt" the ship skin for $6 store credit.

So maximum "loss" if you decide not to bother is $6 :D The reason for getting a backer status account ASAP is that they do occasionally give rewards such as 10,000 in starting money/in-game cash which if you were to buy it through the pledge store would be worth $10. It's rare but to be honest we're probably due something else soon too.

Example skin (these haven't been made yet, you're pledging for when they are): https://robertsspaceindustries.com/pledge/Add-Ons/Dread-Pirate-Skin

So register an account and grab something like that, job done. However you won't have access to Arena commander, Hangar etc until you get a ship which includes that level of access and for that you'll need a ship package, such as this:

https://robertsspaceindustries.com/pledge/Packages/Aurora-MR-AC-Starter
$54, although sales come up fairly regularly that now seem to include some form of starter or cheap package for those who are on the fence.

So how on earth can i pay the extra 12 and where can i pay it... So confused its unreal haha.

I'm visual learner, prefer watching example video's. Any good youtube guides out there?

There are tons of them on youtube, just remember that the game is in development and things change constantly, pricing for example now has to include taxes for EU residents (thanks EU).

Beginning to understand... Do i just google "AMD omega code reddit". Then register with the code on offical site and pay £6 extra to get the Avanger updrage?

When you get the mustang registered on your account you buy the CCU (cross chassis upgrade) and apply it to the ship in the hangar section of the RSI site, this will change it to an Avenger. You need to have registered and be logged in to access that page though after you've got your AMD code working.

I contacted concierge about them a couple of weeks ago, basically the response was they don't know when it's being done but not anytime soon. 8-10 weeks before the event was typical from past events though.

I know I'll be spamming like mad in here when I find out though!

More than likely, the tax etc is an absolute killer. The daft thing is I can see larger ships being cheaper on the grey market at this rate with US account holders buying them and selling them on, greater risk obviously, seen a few scammers at it recently too.

Chances are the Retaliator will be a single ship, so no game package etc. They've history of doing this so if you melt (for store credit) the Freelancer you may have to get the Retaliator + cheap aurora to still retain access to the modules and actually have the game, otherwise you'd end up with a ship for a game you can't play :)

alpha/beta access is tied to packages not your account. There was talk about it being locked to the account once bought but it never happened. You'll get a warning that you're about to melt your last package etc when you go to do it because of this.

What you could do is buy the aurora MR starter package (has SQ42, PU, beta access) and buy individual alpha passes e.g. Arena Commander. Then melt everything else.

The alternative is simply to wait on cross chassis upgrades, they're coming for every ship once it's flyable, the Retaliator is likely going to be the first multi-crew ship which is seeing as it's the test bed for multi-crew. That way you simply upgrade the ship in your ship package to a bigger ship, but keep the rest of the package (start money, hangar, alpha/beta access) as it was.

Here's my alpha access package which has been CCU'd and upgraded several times from an Aurora to a Superhornet:

As you can see the only thing that's changed is the ship, no reason why I can't change that to a retaliator later.
