I don't recall such a quiet open window for Spurs. Not that I'm complaining really, the squad they have is pretty decent and I'm a firm believer in consistency paying its rewards. However, I would feel more comfortable with a new experienced CB to fill in for King and Woodgate and a new CF.. Possibly an instinctive goal scorer.

We'll see.

Spurs best bit of business this summer has been keeping hold of Bale and Modric

That is all i need to know about the Syrian bid :p

I wouldn't trust anyone who is "friends" with G&H to run the club.

reeks of shill bidding to me, I really would not be surprised if this was a way those scumbags were just trying to raise the purchase price of the club...

Hehe that Emir Spahic fellow that I hadn't heard of, the Montpellier defender that Arsenal have been linked with, well he's had a £23million pound price tag slapped on him! Must be some player :D lol

If my knowing about a player adds £20 mil to their value, I will be sure to remain ignorant about any other players we're targeting :D

His club have denied any contact with Arsenal.

Very slim if I am honest. From all the talk and ozils situtation it looks like it would be a massive bargain for anyone. We have a few players we could part exchange for him and the price tag is about £12 million if the papers are to be believed. He will be free next year so I have no idea why we dont snap him up rather than wait until he goes to barca or real for free next season.

God damn you fergie, we have paid a lot more for crap players. Give them carrick and £11 million and all is good.

But yeah, to summarise, we should have signed him up a while back as he is a bargain and will cost double in a couple of years. The fact that we havnt by now makes me think that we wont.

Praying we get Ozil, exactly what is needed if Hernandez is looking as good as we think.

if we don't go for him i'd be disappointed with Fergie and believe its time to call quits on him, 12 Million is a bargain for somebody who can become massive and give us long term stability in the middle.

Doubt Barca or Real will buy him, they both have a couple of players that play exactly where he does, it's only Man Utd that need somebody like him desperately

Thats just the issue though. If he doesnt sign for someone this year he will be a free agent. Barca and Real are the obvious places to go. Sun sea sand and less taxes.

Read that Utd might loan out Owen? Surely not? If they do, Fulham could do with him, although he'd probably make good friends with AJ on the bench.

Nah, we deffo need another central midfielder. Unless OH makes a magical recovery we are looking very thin. Fletcher is good but needs someone else to provide the creativity, carrick is just woeful at the moment and has been for a while.

I reckon that if we sign a solid midfielder we could win a lot this year, very good side with lots of options apart from maybe the most important position of central midfield.

I personally think United could do with a creative central midfielder, and Ozil is more a creative attacking midfielder, but he would definitely be a good signing for them all the same, and I'm sure Fergie would adapt the tactics to fit him in, play 4-2-3-1 or whatever...

Unless he played left wing, Ozil wouldn't be that great in a 4-4-2; too lightweight to play one of the CMF roles. If I were a United fan I'd be after someone like De Rossi, or if you wanted a younger player, Banega.

No chance, wouldn't make sense to loan him out given he's in the last year of his 2 year contract. If there's no place for him in our squad then we'd simply cancel his contract early to allow him to leave. We need him though

I probably watch much fewer Man Utd games than you and it was crystal clear to me that you need a good AM/creative midfielder, do you disagree?

Not so much I disagree I just dont think we're in desperate need for one like you eluded to, people seem to just dismiss how close we came to winning the Premiership last season just like they dismiss how many defenders we had injured all at the same time which if things were different could have made the difference certainly in games like the one at Fulham

It was only our defence that let us down against Bayern also so who knows we could have quite conceivably got to the Champions League final without the injuries as well

Personally I dont think our attacking problem was creating chances last year it was that without Rooney we had no one to put them away, hopefully with Hernandez and a fit Owen we wont have that problem this year.

I think we have more than enough creativity with Nani, Valencia, Berbatov, Rooney, Fletcher, Scholes, Giggs & Carrick

I'm never going to not want us to sign attacking players though :p
