Who's up for a little test?

Starting tomorrow - reset trip/economy computers and don't touch them.

Thursday next week we report our average combined MPG and compare them to the manufacturers official MPG.

Is a week long enough to iron things out so everyone has done a bit of city driving/bit of motorway etc?

Toyota Corolla T-Sport

Claimed Combined : 34mpg
Real Life Combined : 32 ish, its ruined by the stupidly short 6th gear.

Claimed Urban : 25mpg
Real Life Urban : 25mpg, driven like a granny

Claimed Extra Urban : 42mpg
Real Life Extra Urban : 35mpg. If Toyota had seen fit to use a 6th gear which wasn't about 250rpm less than 5th gear then this would be a lot better I think!

Please can you guys google 'Extra Urban' before you compare your Motorway economy to the EU Extra Urban figure - Extra Urban isn't Motorway driving.

Exactly the same as my Tsport for the first 2. don't think I've ever had 35mpg out of it!

Mk3 Mondeo - official figures combined = 36.2mpg
Mk3 Mondeo actual = 28.8mpg :(

Same journeys to work, about 2 miles of streets, then either 23 miles of A roads or 17 miles of motorway and 8 miles of A roads, both routes sitting at about 80mph

No lies:

This will tall more about the journeys we make then the lies the manufacturers spout.

Basically I meet or exceed the combined figure doing my daily commute (Unclassified roads, B roads and A roads), I drop to 21 at OcUK meets, and hit 28.5 on the motorway circa 85mph.
