I'll be very intrigued to see what the performance is like!

I was instantly turned off of the idea of getting a Mac Pro once the starting base spec was only 1 CPU. I still think a Mac Pro should have 2 CPU's at least!

How much did it put you back? :p

Nice :D

Howcome you went for the single CPU rather than the dual?

A few of the apps I use would benefit much greater from the 3.33Ghz Turbo Boost of the single core or 3.2Ghz of the dual core than the 2.66 Turbo Boost of the 2.26Ghz.

I would have bought the last gen 3ghz octo core but this was really on the edge of the budget as it is and single core apps wouldn't have seen a decent enough boost over my MBP 2.4 to warrent the £2k.

And the cost was £2,233 IIRC.

Dual 2.26 = £2200
Dual 2.66 = £3100
Dual 2.93 = £4500 or something equally ridiculous :p

Ridiculous amount of money compared to building my own i7 PC but I just don't want windows to do work on :(

Personally i would have paid the little bit extra and got an Octo 2.26.

The single threaded performance may not be as good but the multi threaded performance is way better. Since everything is becoming multi threaded it makes more sense to me. And with the amount of expansion on RAM with the Octo core Mac Pro's it makes more sense.

I think the single CPU Mac Pro is useless. IMO. Can someone explain why it is good to me? I just can't see the point in it. Same with the over priced iMac with the dire 9400M in it! Pretty much all Apple refreshes since the MacBook Pro have been bad. The MacBook Pro Unibody seems like the only good logical upgrade, these new refreshes seem poor in comparison.

Bring Steve back!

EDIT - Just seems like a clever way to make you spend more money!

Don't need 16 cores :p
