*Cough*

- It's gold!

- It's got a year's ticket!

- It's pretty much rust-free!

- It has a Webasto roof!

- It's cheap!

- It's a koop!

Get it done, boyo!

So many options. I know a guy who's just about to take the 250bhp Rover T16, 5-speed and Capri rear axle out of his to fit a 5.7 V8 with Jag IRS...So it'll be going spare...

His looks like this (Old Nail bodykit courtesy of The Droop Snoot Group):

DO IT!

Afraid not but It'd only save you £150 a year. Certainly not worth the £300+ premium you pay for a tax-exempt car.

Want the email address of the guy with the black one?

Is that meant to be a selling point? :/

The selling point is that it is a cheap, sweet-handling, handsome coupe that with a few choice modifications could see off a lot of more expensive machinery.

But if it's done a mile a month for the past 11 years, it's going to be a total shed without some serious mechanical work. Surely?

No. Not in the slightest.

To start with, it passed an MOT last month.

The engine in it is a complete boat anchor but it's very strong and reliable. Old engines are great...Not like your whimpering, nervous, neurotic 16v lump ;)

You could literally lock one in a garage for 15 years, come back, give it a new battery, new points and some petrol and it would kick straight into life.

Bodywork-wise, it needs a little bit of welding and a bit of a spray. Certainly nothing you couldn't do yourself in a weekend.

Don't build 'em like they used t'!

It's true ;)

I know I say it a lot but the Viva is one of the best-balanced cars ever made. It won't tear your nuts off but it's incredibly neutral in the handling department and they are very easy to set an angle of drift in and hold it...

Now fit the engine I mentioned above (or any number of others) and you have 250bhp+ in a car weighing about 750Kg with nearly 50/50 weight distribution....Sounds like fun to me. ;)

You can also see what appears to be a patch of urine on the passenger seat :p

That's what happens when you take a passenger ride in a 1256cc viva...With that 45-odd bhp powerhouse under the bonnet.
