Oh my gwad he is "racist"

Dear Editor

I write from two black organisations who find the actions of Cllr Brian Gordon deeply offensive. In dressing up as an insulting caricature of ex president of South Africa Nelson Mandela, blackening his face in attendance at a Jewish religious festival of Purim he has managed to anger both London's Black and Jewish communities. We find it remarkable that in this day and age a politician from a mainstream political party, representing a multiracial community, still feels it acceptable to stereotype black people - and to boot one of the worlds most dignified leaders.

We would urge the Barnet Conservative Group to censure or reprimand Cllr Gordon. It is important that minority communities feel valued and respected and such boorish behaviour is unbecoming of someone who holds public office.

Put him in chains and ship him off to the plantations, that'll teach him....

People that complain in such circumstances should be issued with an ASBO, just for being a career moaner. STFU! is the only response.

What? By making himself look black he is enforcing the stereotype that black people are black.

Edit - bah beaten.

still feels it acceptable to stereotype black people

How is he stereotyping black people by dressing up as Nelson Mandella?

edit: Shamelessly beaten

No one kicks up a fuss when Dave Chappelle white's up for his newreader micky takes.

Perhaps they are not offended that he portrayed himself as black but because he dressed up as a terrorist.

I must have missed the roll eyes there.

I thought he was wearing mock African robes? I don't know what the propper name is.

I think he is stupid for making an apology. Having said that, perhaps it would be the end of his political career.....Oh wait, Ken livingstone didnt apologise and yet he carried on with his job! Seriously, he is a tool for apologysing. :(

Thats a load of rubbish. The only person its probably annoyed is a gung ho person that got a PC rocket up his butt just to get in the spotlight who wrote the above piece of garbage. Ridiculous.

As a Barnet resident i can happily tell you that the local Tory party are a complete bunch of fools and have done a lot of things that have been very offensive whilst not getting a slap on the wrist.

Personally i'd like to see articles on why Barnet Council allocate less funds to education than almost any other council in the UK, and why they closed down libraries in the poorest parts of town citing lack of funds, whilst giving ones in the richest part £3m facelifts.

Don't green your face up to look like a witch at a fancy dress party, girls... It's highly offensive to jade-skinned ladies of the occult.

Portraying black people as having dark skin is sterotyping? What the....?
