Oh noes, going to blow up a second time! (new car)

I love motor threads:

1.OP makes a post with a query or statement
2.Various members assist with above
3.MikeHiow adds his '10p' of car rumours
4.Rest of thread is spent trying to take away that 10p
5.Never gets back on topic and it turns out the Focus ST is better than anything on the road
6.Topic dies
7.MikeHiow waits for the next motor thread to start to release more car fantasies

anyone else seeing a pattern? :)

S14's are pretty reliable, engine wise its only really the turbo that seems to go, normally around 100-150k IIRC. So rich is on borrowed time, particularly as he has whacked the boost up!

As mentioned earlier, I am sure it could so with suspension and bushes refresh before adding too much power, but think those things are fair enough at that mileage!

Indeed, the S14a has the air con rad sitting infront of 80% of the cooling rad already, no issues there..

What kind of temperatures does that aircon rad see in relation to the charge temps than a FMIC will see? ;)

Im not sure if your joking there but the aircon condenser (the thing that gets mistaken for a radiator all the time ;)) will get a LOT hotter than the intercooler.

200k on a car like that is pretty impressive.

Not really, they seem to run for ages if looked after. Pretty sure there are a few people with over 250k on SXOC.

The main thing that is going to kill these off (apart from poor maintenance) is rust.

A lot of people on SXOC are well over 100k now, these cars go on forever :)

Edit - doh replied to the same post twice! :o

How come you didn't like it?

I didnt like the standard suspension set up and thought it was a fairly overhyped car for what i'd read, I just didnt get on with it and driving it in the wet just made me wonder what the point was

He prefers run of the mill Hondas instead, ignore him.

Run of the mill Honda, run of the mill Nissan, theres nothing special about either brand

Nice car, I like them. How often should turbos get changed on one of these?

Varies from car to car, depends on maintenance and how the car has been treated.

You wouldn't be alone with that thought, they're getting old now so suspension components are wearing out. They're nothing special as standard but with some minor tweaks you can unleash a pretty decent car. They're pretty fun when they have around 400bhp! :D :D
