OH NOES! He bought a DIESEL!

I was but I'm willing to admit it when I'm wrong. When I drove the car, the lazy, torquey diesel motor actually really suited the type of car. I was convinced as it was just so relaxed to drive.

Still sounds like a tractor though.

Just a bit!

Your top 5 worst engines.

1 - Anything diesel
2 - Anything diesel
3 - Anything diesel
4 - Anything diesel
5 - Anything diesel

Can you guess, I hate diesel engines *spits*. They run on the devil's fuel I tell you.

And not just old diesel engines either. I'm talking about modern V8 and V6 diesels too. They are all horrible and why anyone would choose to spend money on something that sounds like a bus is utterly beyond me.

It was stickered up at £17k. I was expecting to get £500 from my 5 so 16.5 to pay. Then I noticed that on Cooper BMWs dealer specific website it was priced at £16k. We'd already negotiated that I would pay £16,000 for it and when I saw the error I called the dealer. There were some very hushed coversations between the salesman and the manager. We agreed £15,000 and they appologised for the error.
Manage showed me the invoice for what he paid for the car as a trade in..... £15,500. He wasn't happy but said "You got us bang to rights. We have to honor the website price".

Fantastic, excellent value for money.

awfully styled car

Awww c'mon. With the original E65 I would agree with you but the facelift is much nicer.

I was wrong. Hands up, I admit it.
I would still prefer a petrol model but it would have to be a V8 and I just couln't stretch to one from a main dealer.

^^^What he said! List price was?

£54,505 but it also has about £6k of options on it.

Great looking car, cant get my head around the engine though, 35mpg in a diesel just seems a little strange to me and i'd almost feel disaapointed if I saw the car set off and it made a tractor noise rather than a typical BMW large petrol engine sound

Great car - really love the E65. Shame about the engine but better a 730d than none at all if you couldnt reach the V8 :)

That was my thought too. The price was good enough that I can run it for a year and then swap for a 750i without losing too much.

Stick to 70 on a motorway and I'd imagine with the large fuel tank it'd be fine.

A job that the 30d engine can perform in exactly the same way - adequately powerful for lane changes and just as quiet at cruising speed.

The only difference being that the diesel will see another couple of hundred miles to the same tank size.
