Oil pressure

If you're going to moan to the dealer, bear in mine the cam gear will be in a similar mess. If there is any sort of vvt gubbins in the head try and get that renewed too as they block too

Hope you get it sorted mate and what an upgrade from the clio!

It wasn't the A725 from the Raith to EK was it? Been up that at silly speeds and the corners are quite tight so the oil could have been at one end of the sump, unless it's baffled?

Listen to Fox. If your oil pressure light comes on unless it's a dodgy sensor it's bad news. No way a quick blast down a dual carriage way would cause the light to come on with a healthy engine.

If it is an oil PRESSURE light then it is bad news, but people have talked about
Oil LEVEL and Oil TEMPERATURE as well, they are all different with different causes. Make sure what the light is actually indicating.

if the 8P a3 is anything like the rest of the VAG range, a low oil pressure warning would have been accompanied by a long series of beeps to make sure it gets your attention and you stop

also diagnostics run on the instrument cluster should have a log of the warning

take it back and just say ''oil pressure lights keep coming on, it shouldn't''

make them investigate the many many many things that it could be

Spot on, coming up from the Raith, dropped the gears and blasted it almost all the way to EK. The corners definitely feel pretty tight at that speed.

I drove the car today to see how it went and all felt absolutely fine, no warnings, smooth drive as usual. However, it's still going back to the dealership on Monday, not happy about it coming on like that.

Haha can't beat nailing it in 2nd when the solid lines disappear. Knowing that corner before the first slip road at nearly 100 I think a lot of forces are pushing the oil around.

To be fair my 12 year old 112k mile engine doesn't put the oil light on going up there.

Just get it checked and sorted out just incase.

Just an update, cars been running pretty much fine since but I phoned Audi this morning who have came and picked the car up. It's getting a good going over incase there's an underlying issue but they're very much doubting it. Assuming it's a sensor or filter issue. Should get it back free of problems at 5pm :)

would be good if they could provide you with before and after oil pressure figures, but i guess theyll be very vague with their answer

They're now keeping it until tomorrow because of damage to the underside...No idea how that would've happened, I haven't hit anything. Possibly a speed bump? Even then, I think I would've noticed the hit.

They think the sensor has been knocked on impact which set the light off so a few things are getting replaced and I should get the car back tomorrow.

Unless they plug in a remote pressure sensor, doubt they'd ever do that, as it's likely only going to be a pressure switch/sender on the engine.

I would really doubt the oil pressure switch would unlikely be found anywhere near the bottom of the car, I'll likely be somewhere either near the head or middle of the block, so they're talking out their bums.

If it's gunked up like the pictures earlier in the thread, then they need to take the sump off and have a look - the sump shouldn't ever get to a surge/starvation - which would indicate a blockage in the system (or even just a dodgy oil pressure switch).

They're paying for it all. It's a smaller audi dealership/specialist.

Which is it, an Audi dealer or a specialist

If its an Audi main dealer fair enough, but thats not an independant specialist. If its not an Audi main dealer surely an independant dealer isnt going to just say 'Take it straight to Audi at 100 quid an hour, we'll pay whatever' without having a look themselves first
