Oil pressure

Oh dear. Labour and cost of the pick up shouldn't be much. Soooo many get sold when oil pressure problems come up... Hence my comments about all second hand cars!

Never understood the point in the S6 really once they hit the used market. A car designed for epic long distance jaunts (It's a sub M5/E55/etc level of car so doesn't offer that level of talent).... yet which consumes so much fuel it's probably more cost effective to take the private plane. Unless you are so fabulously wealthy that doing thousands of miles in comfort at 19mpg is simply no issue to you, then I can't see why you'd ever think the S6 makes sense. And if you are that wealthy, you'd likely not want a 5+ year old S6 so just who buys these things?

Weren't you quoted in a Sunday Times article saying how cheap it is to buy and run a high mileage used car? ;)

Could well be time to chop it in. It certainly won't be worth £3k more if you fix everything!
I also want you to get an S6 as I'm curious as to how much these things cost to run :p

S6 is likely not to happen, the potential costs are staggering! Repairing the A6 might, if I can get it as low as it cost me to get the LCR's pickup/pump done, but even then there is a lot of work to do on it in the coming months.

I've got to work out if it's cheaper to trade it in (as is), fix it and sell it, or sell it as-is. Trade in as-is with Audi isn't as bad as I expected (I had it valued today), as obviously they are only knocking off the value of the parts and not the labour, obviously that then ties me in to buying something in their stock, of which there is nothing particularly interesting at the moment. But I'm in no rush. I can drive the LCR in the meantime and leave it there until something does catch my eye in their stocklist.

Yes and no. Thinking logically, it would make more financial sense to have a track car (a proper one, stripped modded, etc) and a "mundane" car (by mundane I mean a normal compact exec/full sized exec with a relatively dull engine).

~£4k as it stands now. When the same dealership appraised it 7-8 months ago, they offered me around £5k without this problem. So taking into account the extra age, mileage and the current problems, that's not done too badly IMO.
