im looking for a top notch gaming pc, put into a dvd player sized case (ie htpc) but it will be in the fron room under the tv so need it to be quiet. need it to be future proof, and for it too be no more than £1600. also needs wireless keyboard.

im really excited about this build and its also got me very worried as there seems to so much out there now.

not sure but am willing to consider water cooling.

are people going ddr3 now adays? and and gddr4 on graphics?? i feel so lost in the world of rig building now.

or do i want a top notch htpc which can be silent and a gaming laptop?? decisions decisions!!

but end result can be no more than £1600

cheers guys

Dont go for ddr3, its simply way to expensive at the moment, and there just isnt a need for it in the majority of systems. ddr2 is the what to go for, as prices have droped stupidy low.

Unless you plan to overclock, theres no need for watercooling unless you need it dead silent. With decent coolers on the graphics card instead of the stock ones they come with, and a good cpu cooler, you shouldnt notice much noise except from HDD (and even then it might be nothing to wory about, my HDD is compleatly silent in my lian li pc-a70b due to its mounting system).

your probably gonna get away using fairly/very high end parts, so long as you have enough space to use a right angled pcie conenctor for gfx and can cope with most other things being onboard/usb (use the internal ports).

as mentioned use after market coolers on cpu/gfx card, my samsung hd's are pretty quiet.

keyboard wise have a look at the Logitech DiNovo Edge Bluetooth :D
