Mmm.... Metro 2033 at 1920 X 1200 or 1080 on any of those cards in that review isn't really playable at decent settings. Even the 470\6870 are struggling.:(

I cant imagine how it would be unplayable with those cards. I found an aritcle where they tested several current/older cards and they did fine. http://www.pcgameshardware.com/aid,...marks-with-DirectX-11-and-GPU-Physx/Practice/ So surely these newer cards should do the same or better even at 1920x1200/1080.

Giga 460 1GB gets my vote, awesome cooler, quiet, cool, overclock it to 850 core and it'll match a 6870 (even beat it in some games).

I don't know if you have been looking at the results careful enough...even the 5850 (which is faster than the 3 cards you quoted) can only deliver 30+ minimum frame rate with a quite a few things switched off, and it is only on 1680x1050. Going 1920 would most likely see the minimum frame rate drop to sub 25fps, and with various settings enabled, it would drop to as low as between 10-20fps.

Performance is near identical, with wins depending on game I think remembering the reviews I read.

I'm a big ATI fan because of their efficienct designs, loving my 5770, however the GTX 460 isn't that much more power hungry than a 6850 especially under idle so I'd go with the GTX 460 personally.

Better tesselation, PhysX, CUDA, experiment with 3D gaming. Plus it overclocks really well.

Out of the two 460's, go with the one known to have the quietest cooler.

Metro is a hog for 580 SLI never mind a 460, you will just have to turn some settings down.

My OC'd gigabyte 460 (850/1700/2100) runs metro at around 30 fps just fine with everyting set to high and 4 x AA, might not be maxed but it's still damn pretty!

With 460 prices dropping so much right now it'd be nice and cheap to throw a second in on sli in a year or so when it starts to struggle.

The gigabyte 460 is also quiet as a mouse! running the fan at 70% tempts hit about 75 deg and i can't hear it over general system noise!

But you are talking about AVERAGE frame rate you are getting being around 30fps...what about minimum frame rate? It would suck if the frame rate drop to 15fps when you are trying to aim at the enemy :o
