You really haven't thought this through, have you?
Get the ECU remap or stop wasting your and other people's time with this WPM.
What ?
Well, it's pretty simple really.
A standalone Engine management system like a Motec is just about as far from a "Bolt on" component are you're going to get without messing around with engine internals.
Are you aware of just how much a MoTec system costs? Does this include a loom? (I'll eat my shoe laces if there is an off the shelf plug and play loom available for your car). Do you have a local tuner in mind? Is he sufficient in tuning MoTec systems? How much does he charge? How much does the garage with the Dyno he is going to use charge per hour?
We are talking thousands upon thousands of pounds for the ECU ALONE. Thousands of pounds on a 1.4 Ford Diesel to make a pathetic amount of horsepower. You have not thought this through.
You can get 90-95BHP from the engine (which is quite good considering the stock power), but that's about the limit without added expense of an intercooler being fitted.
The cheapest boost would be a ECU remap (one that plugs in and stays in the engine bay) for £100-150 mark and will nudge the power up to about 80-85BHP.

Your kind of going very OT but, the last motec type ECU I bought was £700 ish, not sure what the actually cost of the ECU setup was, but it wasn't thousands upon thousands of pounds as you seem to think.
Sell it and buy something else.
Modding will probably effect the resale value, along with insurance, etc.
Is it really worth it?
You are going to buy a MoTec for a 1.4 TDCI?
Just lol.
58 Reg Ford Fiesta 1.4 TD (tdci?) i'm not sure whether it was de-tuned as it was a hire car (there's not exactly much power to detune) but it was stupidly slow, slower than a 1.25 Fiesta.

Why didn't you get the 1.6?
I've never felt short of power in mine.
