OK Temps On Stock Before I Overclock

Hi All,

Just got my new rig set up and am running some stress test at stock speeds to make sure it is nice and stable before I try overclocking it.

At the moment my system temps are always 42c whether at idle or load. My CPU idle is 28c and under load it goes to 42c when I run Orthos on Small FFT - this seem's to stress the CPU more as under blend the max is only 40c.

Do these temps look OK and when I start to overclock what temps should I consider to high.

Cheers guys.

My spec is:-

CPU: Core2Duo E6420
Cooler: A/C Freezer 7 Pro
Motherboard: Gigabyte GA-P35-DS4
RAM: 2GB Crucial Ballistix 5300
PSU: Seasonic S12-500
Graphics: EVGA 8800 640MB GTS KO ACS3

Thanks guys,

I almost had a heart attack though. Was sitting reading some post when the whole system just went off. Thought I had nackered it until I realised it was a poer cut :D

Will give the overclocking a try later. Do you guys think the Overclocking section of the Gigabyte DS3/DS4/DQ6 Guide in the motherboard section would still be relevant to the P35 version as well?

Thanks again
