old cartoon and book question?

okay guys and girls we've been discussing in my office old cartoons and the sort we use to do and watch when we were young. now i need your help back in the day use to have book on this worm character who wore a fedora and drove an apple car. they latter turned it into a cartoon what was its name?

it sounds like the Ant and Bee books but they are really old. of Richard Scarry books.

I did say ant and Bee books were very old! they were alphabet type books when I was a toddler!

sorry camel didnt realise they were richard scarry just knew lowly worm thats all could remember of it cheers guys use to love this.
