Old Headset vs New headset - xbox/xbox 360

Functionality wise, I don't think there is a different, not tried the 360 version, but I'd have thought they'd both be pretty comparable, they both have the same connection, just the 360 version clips on a little nicer.

The old one as well doesn't allow you to mute or adjust the volume as the jack plug from the old one connects directly to the controller where-as the new one contains a small doofer with mute and volume control between the controller and jack.

The old one is MUCH more comfortable, also the microphone appears better and earpiece sound is clearer.

The original is a quality item made and designed by Plantronics IIRC, compared to the cheap 360 one which appears to be a rebranded £1 computer show special.

My brother has been using his original after his 360 one broke (so you can add better built to that list too ;) ) and the sound seems a lot better talking to him on Live than just about everyone else in my friends list.

Bad point as mentioned is there is no mute or volume :(

is it worth it buying the old headset?

No definate answer really. If you want a better quality and more comfortable headset then buy the old one. If you want one that matches the 360s colour and style and has better functionality, then get that.

OR...

If you wanna be different, then use the earpiece that comes with your mobile phone (if you have one), so long as it has the 2.5mm jack plug (which most do), you could use that and save yourself money.

so bobbler says the old ones better and kreee says the new ones better???

Personal choice the end of the day. If you've not bought a 360 yet, get the premium and the headset comes with it anyway.

I'm using an old one which seems pretty comfy.

I'm holding out to get one of these new wireless babies (which I think is due out some time in September):
