old news but more postal disruption

Yeah, i'm sick of hearing about it now. I can understand their grievances, but striking causes a knock-on effect to a lot of people.

I've been affected by it several times since they started striking, and wouldn't rely on them now.

Are they so stupid as to not be able to see that this is just making things worse for them? Royal Mail is shooting itself in the foot spectacularly, it's competitors must be loving every announcement.

Sick to death of the post-office. almost every week there is some kind of a disruption. To me its gone beyond a joke. The service is despicable to boot. If they haven't already I know believe that other business should put it, this poor excuse of a post service, out of business.

Do you know why we are striking by any chance?

Good 5 day off for me :D

The strike btw is Friday, Saturday, Monday & Tuesday.

Who delivers the competitors post! Do they? I think not..

I'm not sure how this is relevant? I'm talking about the contracts that Royal Mail have been losing, and will continue to lose if they carry on behaving like this.

They're losing money, need to modernise, and try to do so by alienating a large majority of their customer base? Not a successful way to conduct business.

The other company are undercutting Royal Mail that’s how they’re getting the contracts plain and simple, the competitors are losing money in most cases to keep the contracts, something RM can’t do! They are bent over backward by the government on letting in the competition.

It was irrelevant as its ironic that we deliver other competitors post! What does that say to you?

Sounds remarkably like BT and the LLU fiasco. I wonder how BT managed to survive so well, and still be in a market dominant position, whilst RM can't seem to put a foot right.

Going to out on a limb here and say I don't care. Bet I'm not alone either.
A man has to make a living, no idea what the RM pay but I bet it's not that relatively spectacular? Same as the member who posted a while ago about the tube strikes from the other side of the line, I believe he was a tube driver or track tech but if you dig past the press announcements and hear the grass roots stories you will see a different side to it all.

Gotta say I feel sorry for my postie burning about in all weather, even when he does just deliver me bills and leaflets for double glazing etc.. respect to a tireing job methinks!

So why post in here if you don’t care? Or annoyed at the strikes pointless post tbh..

the insane number of "OMFGBBQ!! zee po$tman n00bs pwned uzz, my geek machine didn't arrive in da post, innit!" there always is at strike time says different :|

Classic can just imagine that’s the op :p

Top man! :D posties don’t get the respect they deserve the majority of the time, 8miles in the pouring rain can’t see too many people doing that!
IIRC the pay is around the £9/hour mark maybe £8.50, so it’s very good for an unskilled job.

But I don't care why they are striking. I care about not getting my post and I blame the striking posties for that. Not the nasty horrible people who don't pay them enough.

There are enough jobs in this country that they don't have to be there if they don't want to so why not get on with it or move on?

Pff, I regularly go out in the mornings; cold and windy and rainy. And I don't get paid for it.
But do you carry a heavy bag filled with letters and *have to do it every day* as a choice? I'm not saying posties are a special breed but it's gotta be a bit of a harsh reality in the winter and stuff..

And getting up at 5:30 every day to do a pretty hefty, serious workout isn't hard? No I don't have to do it every day, but I choose to in order to be good at it. And I tell you, when its cold its bloody awful at times.

But no, I don't carry a bag of letters around.

Hmm stand up and speak up mean anything to you? Enough jobs! your joking right?

Scrap the royal mail and I'll move to a rural community, think of it.

1. Most of my communications, bills etc are done over the internet.
2. Nobody to deliver mountains of junk mail to my door.
3. Nobody to leave packages that I do get delivered which have a sticker on them saying "signature required" on my front step as they're too lazy to come back.

Losing the RM wouldn't actually be a big deal for me.

Each bag 15-20Kgs and about 7 of them on one walk! that’s worth paying for :D not walking to the bus stop and back ;)

don't they do that because so many people have a **** fit and complain about having to go to the local delivery office when the parcel could just be left somewhere?

Some do ;) 'I was in but didn’t hear you knock' Yea right!

The amount of parcels packets you have to walk back is a joke tbh, due to people not being in.
