hello, I m trying to find a problem with a 2 year old system which i built myself, it used to be used for mainstream gaming

specs X2 6400+ black
asus MR32 MVP
3Gb OCZ mem
HD3870
powersupply is some crappy 3rd party (parents fault they wouldn't listen to me)
I believe its got a SATA maxtor 250Gb drive

symtoms, will not boot into vista, can't even get it to boot of CD, the Drive does work.

I think ethoir the SATA has gone again, or the HDD has had it. OR my sister has gone and viruses it as she won't let me put security programs on it :mad:

Can you boot up in safe mode mate.?

no gets stuck or BSOD

before it happen it slowed right down and crashed ever few seconds than when we restarted it, it went now the CD drive won't work

treid changing the SATA cable to another slot, gets it further than it did still BSOD through the CD drive is connected I checked and the power

Disconnect the power cable from the cd/dvd drive.

Remove all but 1 stick of ram.

See if you can now boot up into the desktop.

If you cant, try each stick of ram individually, and in different slots.

seems funny the PC was fine up till recently than goes
