Old Tmobile pulse -> Orange sanfran

Really? Mines whoops the Desires AMOLED (got both :p) and the colours, blacks and viewing angles are much better than all the other LCDs I've used recently (including Sonys sLCD and the sharp unit in the DHD/HD7 etc, iP4 is the exception)
I can't see any difference between the Milestone/Droids IPS TFT either, so it's safe to assume it's the same panel or something similar.

Maybe you've just got used to oversaturated LEDs? or Moto have started using a different supplier?

Edit: dont forget 2.1 doesn't use the full 24bit colours, we need to wait until 2.2 to see it properly :)

Doesn't matter what it's 'got under the hood', the parts are not even close to half the price of the phone. The manufacturer makes a profit on it and then the retailer makes a profit again on it. The more they can whack on the price, the better it is for them. If the market will take these high prices then can you blame them for charging so much? Every so often something like the SanFran comes out and challenges that idea but on the whole they just charge relative to the competition... and they keep the prices high.
