Hello all.

Started building my rig last night.

P4 651 3.4ghz
eVGA 680i Motherboard
2gb DDR2 533Mhz
BFG 8800GTX
ThermalTake Purepower 680w
Zalman 9700

However im hitting a problem of INCREDIBLY low scores.

Well when I say incredibly, im getting around the same scores as my 7900GTO.

In 3DMark06 my SM 2.0 score is the same. My CPU score is the same, buy my HDR score is but 1000 points higher.

Im getting a score of 5500.

This is extremely low.

What could be the issue? When I installed the CPU i ****** it up big time. Overclocked (4.0ghz) I got a CPU score of 900  . I looked at the Heatsink and it wasnt applied properly. Here was me ****** myself.

I am not getting a score of 1900 (cpu)

What is the reason for the low scores. Im really really disappointed.

In Test Drive unlimited Im getting 2fps @ 1920x1200 @ high detail.

I rising to 14-24fps with details on low.

Aquamark3 gives me a score of 76,000  :o :( (13,000 GPU, 11000 CPU)

Btw im in a library now so cant do anything.

Will go home in an hour or so to try the ideas you guys can think of.

(dont have broadband at home)

I only used the drivers I got with my Box. Also I had to install the card with previous drivers on, since I had no other card :o

Any good programs for getting rid of everything.

At the moment it is all hooked up to a Maxtor Maxline III 250gb. 249gb was filled but I have since deleted 20gb of it (210gb full). Will this make a difference. Got 2x320gb seagate barracuda 7200.10 sata2 sitting on the side.... Would it be worth installing these?

p.s I have a XFI-XtremeMusic installed atm. Take out?

cheers :)

thanks Mark. Really appreciate the link.

;)

Okay.....

1. download drivercleaner and run it.
2. reinstall new drivers that I have downloaded
3. Update Motherboard Bios.

Any other ideas

No probs ;)

I would...

1. Check to see if there are any bios updates, Update and clear the CMOS
2. Go through the Bios, Make sure the PCI-E is running @ 16x *Reboot*
3. Check, download & Install any Motherboard drivers if needed, Such as Intel INF e.t.c. *Reboot*
4. Add/Remove programs, Remove Nvidia Software *Reboot*
5. Run Driver cleaner, Remove Nvidia *Reboot*
6. Install new Nvidia Drivers *Reboot*

^^ This wont make any difference to benchmarks :)

Ah cheers.

:( Well the space needed clearing. Windows has told me to defrag the hard drive.... Will give that a go.

*tries to remember exactly how to install raid*.

p.s Do you think I should raid the 2x320gb HDD or just stick them in. Also what config? Raid 0? Strip size?

hello. I have seen a place selling some Artic Silver 5. However it is not the usual 3.5gram stuff. It is a 12grammer.

It costs inc postage to ireland £10.

Is it worth getting? How many applications would I get with that, and how long does it last.

cheers

speaking of which does anyone have a copy of i ntels price cuts.

I have found a qx6700for £430 delivered. How much will this loose its value with the price uuts

Have you confirmed that the PCI-E link width is 16 and not anything else? Look in the bios or run CPU-Z to find out.

Your 3dmark score could be limiting because it's running at 1280x1024. At that res you're majorly cpu limited so a conroe would help in that department.

However, as you bought an 8800gtx you probably want to game at 1920x1200. At that res you shouldn't be CPU limited at all. How is performance at that res? Any better than the 7900 you had before?

If it's still bad then i'd guess something like pci-e linkwidth like simulatorman says!

Just format, reinstall all the latest drivers ONLY, then should b ok, no need to be quite looking at a new CPU RIGHT NOW, wait until the price cuts, a p4 at 4ghz is 'enough' for now,lol
Agreed! Doesn't really matter at higher res'!

pentium 4 with 8800gtx? your cpu is holding off your video card. get a new cpu

That's what i first thought but i wasn't sure as people keep posting about updating drivers etc...surely a P4 isn't powerful enough!
