I am after a compact that throw in the bag and take to gigs and stuff. (mainly because they don't let you take a DSLR!)

Criteria

1 - Shoots Raw
2 - Shoots HD video - 720 is fine.
3 - large aperture if possible

I am asking coz its been about 5 years since i looked into it and no idea what is out there now!

Have you looked at the olympus XZ-1. I've alway had panny tz series for my compacts but seriously tempted to replace it with one of these.

That is the TOP of the list at the moment.

My brother in law had one before he sold it (too late now!) before he got the X100, and my cousin has one in HK, which I had a play with and really like it.

The Panasonic LX5 have rave reviews.. It's been on my list for some time too.

"File Format for Still Image: JPEG(DCF/Exif2.3)"

On one hand, I like to take some cool pics at the gig on Wednesday, could take it to Florence at the start of November. On the other hand, the Fuji seems really really cool!

Do I buy the Olympus and suck it up? may be sell it in 2 months or don't take any pics at the gig at all and get the Fuji? I read that the Fuji will be around 500 to 600 euros, which is like £200 more than the XZ-1...thats quite a lot more!

However the Olympus is slightly faster (f1.8 - f2.5 vs f2.0 - f3.3) and has an extra 22mm at the long end which could be useful for gigs.

They would be good though.

I will be very interested in the lowish light performance of the video if you take some Raymond. I bought my wife a TZ10 and although it takes amazing contrasty stills I'm not happy with the video in comparison to my old Ixus 800.

I picked up a second hand LX5 on TP for £225. Has all the controls I want, shoots RAW and is not slow to focus/shoot.
It also fits in a jacket pocket easily, tighter trousers may be a problem but that's common in all but the very small compacts.
I've had very little chance to use it except for a fly macro I took on the first day:

I only bought it as a second camera when I travel as I'm fed up with lugging 2 bodies around. To take to a gig it would be perfect. Low light capability is said to be good.
Just my impressions.

Just saw this thread on TP:
