I really like this omni directional belt, if they can scale it down to something more practical for the home I can see it working well for such scenarios?

still a lill skeptical but the next 10 years of technology is gonna be really exciting! :D

Always thought gaming, VR, would go along these lines. Can't wait until it really kicks off. Going to be exciting.

Yea thats what i have always imagined a VR system to turn out like in the second video. Seems to work decent enough.

So much for naked gaming :(

lolpear?

I do wonder how fast the reaction time that belt is to acknowledging when the user is running and when walking. and from running to stop. I can imagine a lot of people being flung off hehe.

edit**

maybe it just tries to centre point the pressure of object into the middle of the boundaries? probably pretty effective if the space is big enough. doubt it would ever be small enough for the living room though given how big users are and the usual liviing space

Jeesh - can't think of anything worse than that first video :(

I like holding a controller in my hands and slouching about on the couch in my pants while playing games - not jumping about like a loon or holding a make beleive steering wheel... the tech is a long way from being accurate so precision control is a long way off imo.

Well the aim is to try and make people as in the game as possible, the only way to do that is by mixing the virtual world with the real world until the matrix comes out :p but tbh a holodeck is getting more and more plausible. just need someone to make 3d objects now and we'll be well on our way ;)
