According to health officials in the United States, the number of people dying from tobacco-related deaths may reach one billion this century, some 10 times more than the last century. The figure is based on current trends.
Smoking kills 1.4 million people annually across the globe and is the direct cause of some one in five cancer deaths. 10.9 million cancer cases are diagnosed every year, according to the Cancer Atlas.
A spokesperson from the World Health Organisation said: “We know with cancer, if we take action now, we can save 2 million lives a year by 2020 and 6.5 million by 2040.” 1.25 billion people currently smoke. The Cancer Atlas was released on Monday.

Thank whatever God for smokers or else this planet would be well overrun.
