One for the Mountain Biking People

Hi All.

I am a complete biking novice and have an Orange P7 bike. Yesterday I had a puncture and the tyre and tube is completely screwed.

My bike currently has Continental Explosion tyres on it with a measurement of 26 x 20.

I want to get a new tyre for my front wheel but cannot find an identical tyre replacement. Will there be any issues with fitting a 26 x 21 tyre to the front wheel whilst keeping my other good 26 x 20 tyre to the rear? Providing that the tread is similar?

Common sense tells me it wont but I wanted some confirmation before I parted with the cash

No theres no problem doing that. Infact many people opt for a wider front tyre.

Stupid question number two: Any difference between front and back tyres?

I am thinking of getting this tyre for the front, I also have this tyre on the rear. Is that a problem?

Again I dont think there is.

And whilst I am posting can anybody recommend any good books on bike maintenance. I want to learn more but need a few pointers...

yea will be fine ont he front and rear. What do you wanna know about maintenance? General looking after or replacing parts etc?

All aspects of bike maintenance from general servicing to replacing/upgrading parts.
