So I dropped my phone last week and now the screen won't come on. It isn't cracked, and the phone seems to be working since the alarm still goes off every morning and if I ring it, it works, but the screen just won't come on and I've tried rebooting it with holding the power button pressed.

I went to a local phone shop and they quoted me £90 to fix it. I just called up One Plus repair and they said a screen would cost £71. However, they may be additional costs too and they can't give me an idea of how much that would be. On their website, it says:

And you will be charged a corresponding amount of out-of-warranty repair labor when paying for replacing
a certain part/parts.

Does anyone have any idea how much this extra could be? I'd rather go official to get it fixed if it's going to be basically the same cost, even if it takes 7-10 days instead of the next day the local guy is offering, but not if it could end up being a lot more. I could reject the estimate once they give it to me, but means 5 more days at least of being without it.

Have also considered just ditching it and buying the One Plus 7T instead, but wouldn't have upgraded it otherwise and quite happy with the 5T, so not there yet...yet...

Is there a cable to connect the screen to the main board via a connector, similar to the charging port? If it's a loose connection they are quite simple to take apart and put back together.

I have a similar issue with my OnePlus 3T screen bis blank, no sounds but buttons give hepatic feedback and light up so I think it may just be the same as you but what if it's not, could end up costing £150 or so for screen and motherboard, obviously mine is an fair bit older, I think it might be worth upgrading tbh, also OnePlus repair can or do wipe your phone data, so unless stuff is cloud saved it's all gone. I reckon you can get a OnePlus 6t for around £200 which isn't bad.
