One Space... Or Two?

It can be either one or two, it depends entirely on the medium you use.

Most modern literature on typography says that double spacing is wrong, but some non-typographical sources indicate that it could be used on a typewriter or with a mono-spaced font. The majority of style guides opt for a single space after terminal punctuation for final and published work, with a few permitting double spacing in draft manuscripts and for specific circumstances based on personal preference.Grammar and design guides, including Web design guides, provide similar guidance.

So it is one, unless the circumstances suit two.

I love it when the Grammar Nazi's come out to play! :D

As for the question. Two. It was the way I was taught in my IT classes.

I'd prefer to see two spaces rather than one, but the only thing I really want to see after the spaces is a capital letter.

Well I sincerely hope none of you ever type a job application letter to me, it would just end up in the bin, as it seems to me the quality of English language and sentence structure being taught at schools is poor.

Well, considering that either single or double-spacing is acceptable grammatically you would be dismissing employees with probable excellent potential on the basis of your own personal predilection.

That doesn't appear to be an educated way to select potential employees.

I have a degree in English and can safely say it's one space. This is to distance the start and the end of a sentence but it's only one space. Im a little drunk but it's always one space.

Then you need to consider paragraphs :D

This. Anything else is wrong.

Double space (English Spacing). This convention stems from the use of the mono-spaced font on typewriters. If the ribbon were too dry the visibility of the period would be reduced significantly. Adding two spaces after the period ensured that the reader would know where the end of the sentence was if the period didn’t strike properly. This historical convention was carried on by tradition until it was replaced by the single space convention in published print and digital media today

It can be either.
