Well, some of you may know i've been looking at mondys for a while, well, my local jennings got one in yesterday on an 03 plate, i happened to visit yesterday and noticed they'd put it up for 6995, so took it for a test drive this morning, bought it straight after.
It's a '03' mondeo 'graphite' special edition with the 6 cd changer and elec seats, it's got the TDCi engine in it though which i wanted, however, i wanted cruise control and the 6 speed box but it had neither, but to be fair, i dn't do much motorway driving anyway. It's in panther black and looks really nice, Main reason i bought it was coz it only has 40k miles on and i get a 2 year warranty with it. I got pics on my mobile but i'll wait till i pick it up for pics.
so bye bye ibiza 1.2, hello mondeo 2.0 TDCi :D

Work for Ford mate and take it from me that is a cracking motor you got.

as it happens, my mate is quite high up in jennings-ford where i bought it from, so of course, i was looked after :D
cant wait to pick her up though, may be tomorrow or tuesday.

well, i could have gone private and bought a 52 ghia X with maybe 100k on the clock, but i'd have got no comeback if it went wrong, so i've followed my head and gone for peace of mind, the 2 year warranty is what did it for me, 2 years peace of mind.

ok, i picked her up this morning and been driving about all day lol, our lass noticed the tax wasn't in window so i went to garage and kicked off asking where it had gone coz it was there the other day, after sorting it all out and them not knowing where it was i came home and found it stuck to all the bumf i got with the car :D
first impressions, having been being used to my '04 ibiza 1.2, size is an immediate difference, it's like a tank, however, behind the wheel it feels like a different story, it's more than capable of holding it's own on the straights and twisties :D. The torque is also very addictive :D
The ride is much more refined, the suspension handles better but the brakes feel spongier (i guess i'll get used to that). The build quality is much MUCH better than that of the little Seat and it's a very comfy car. The only niggle i have is on the ibiza, when i clicked the indicator slightly it clicked 3 times (handy for lane changes), the mondeo doesn't do this. guess i can't have everything hey :)

I'll get pics asap, i'm having tea soon.

i just got home from work, i'll get some pics when i've had the supaguard put on on thursday :D, it's handy knowing the management ;)

Well, a full day driving and everytime i feel that torque i grin :D, it's not the quickest car in the world, but it's enough for me. My seat ibiza felt like a toy, this feels more grown up, and looks it.

does it chuck a load of smoke out the back ?

tbh, i haven't noticed any smoke, but then i haven't been looking, and i've been pushing hard.
I filled her up with BP ultimate when i picked her up at £1.03/litre  , i just done over 100 miles so far and it's still sitting on full, thats a mix of town driving and country lanes to work and back.

I've took her to the garage this morning to get her supaguard protection done, that shoulda cost me £250, for me it's £50 ;) so, i'll be able to get some pics sorted today, advance warning though, i need to de-tango the side repeater, but i don't know wether to go clear or smoked on panther black. so erm, yea, pics coming later when i get her back :D

De-tangoing the side repeaters makes a massive difference for such a small effort. Definately do it.

You can get genuine ford clear side repeaters for about £10 delivered.

source? other than ebay

ok, here's the pics then as promised, and what a stupid idea the beach was on a windy day, my car is full of sand now :(.

The pics do it no justice really, i should have waited till the sun was going down but there ya go.

what i really am tempted to to now, is.......
  • buy a silver grill / buy a grill and have it sprayed silver
  • buy some foglights, can be had on ebay for £25 each (not to use though)
  • i'm tempted to see how much it would cost for the aluminium window frame trim , or even if you can buy the stuff and do it yourself
  • and some tints for the rear and rear sides.

opinions?

BTW, i have already detangoed the side repeaters :D

why did i buy black :S lol
oh yeah, it looks stunning when it's clean, just doesn't stay clean for long haha, just washed her and she looks great again.

Get a facelift grille - looks a lot better flush with the bonnet edge that the inset grille on the earlier cars. See Here

I had a 2002 2.0 TDCi 130 Zetec and it was a great car. I'm sure you'll be pleased with yours.

thats the grill i want, but i'm not sure wether it will fit pre-facelift mondeos.
