My friend is very interested in opening up a mobile phone shop.
He's doing a lot of research himself but I said I would help too. He has the capital as he already owns another shop.
He doesn't know how to repair phones but ideally needs to learn how to repair, unlock phones and all the other things mobile phone shops do.

Any links/information in the right direction would be gold! Cheers!

Get yourself a laptop, unlocking softwares, phone acceseries(sp?) and talk to other shop who operates one. That's a start.

first things first check out the competition etc to see what they do. then he **** get himself the right toold, everything from a decent repair kit to the right cables, dongles etc. gsmforum is a great place for info, and there are a lot of knowledgable people there

Right i've just checked that forum and will tell him to join it.

Competition? The only source of competition is a 20 minute drive away. People usually go to his computer shop and for mobile services which he doesn't supply regrettibly.

Get a few unlocking/flashing boxes like JAF, Griffin, Twister etc... and all the cables he can, it will cost him a bomb but will make that back easily.
